I ask this because most of us seem to really enjoy looking at everyone's project and then want to make them ourselves. I know I have a whole list bookmarked for future projects.

However I have no desire to ever make a rag quilt. I've seen many here that i really like and I have a friend that makes gorgeous ones from plaids and homespun fabrics. If i was ever given one I would use and cherish it. But i don't want to make one myself. It just doesn't look fun to make to me.

How about you...anything you have no desire to make?

Jim's Gem 02-06-2011 09:23 PM

At this point I have no desire to make a One Block Wonder. What I have seen are beautiful and everyone has done a great job with them. They just don't appeal to me.

mzsooz 02-06-2011 09:25 PM

I agree with both of you! Rag quilts and One Block Wonders don't interest me at all. And I don't like Civil War patterns and colors either.

cjomomma 02-06-2011 09:27 PM

OBW! It's pretty but not something I desire to make. I too do not like the civil was repros.

earthwalker 02-06-2011 09:28 PM

Yes...I have many bookmarks and an endless list of "want-to-dos", but I just don't see a bargello in my future. I do admire and appreciate the difficulty and see their beauty, just not my "cup of tea".

gaigai 02-06-2011 09:29 PM

Scrappy. I like some of the ones I've seen, but have no desire to do one. I don't know why I'm hanging on to my scraps, I should just junk them.

Jill 02-06-2011 09:30 PM

I have no desire to do any quilt that is paper pieced. Tried it a couple of times and it nearly drove me batty! I like the looks of them, but I'll be sticking with patchwork.

fatquarters 02-06-2011 09:35 PM

I may be banished for saying this but I have no desire to do anything batik. I have all kinds of stash but not batiks.
I also don't want to do a OBW, or a bargello, or another rag quilt, already did a couple.
But I do love civil war prints, want do try some Kim Deihl patterns.

sewwhat85 02-06-2011 09:37 PM

paper pieced i hate taking the papers out

moonrise 02-06-2011 09:40 PM

I want to make everything I see!

plainjane 02-06-2011 09:41 PM

A bargello is probably not in my future-but that could change. I don't believe I'll do a quilt with black in it. I remember thinking batiks were the ugliest fabric known to man-now I LOVE them.

Don't junk your scraps. There are many who would love to have them.

MadQuilter 02-06-2011 09:43 PM

Bargello, OBW/Stack and whack, Triple Irish Chain. Those are on the top of my list of "when hell freezes over" projects.

Katiequiltsalot 02-06-2011 09:49 PM

Never seen one I didn't want to make,But plenty I wont get around to. So I try to do the ones I really like first. Not to mention I like to design my own.

purplemem 02-06-2011 10:01 PM

I have no desire to make a paper pieced quilt. It would drive me batty. and very quickly.

Tropical 02-06-2011 10:19 PM

I prefer not to make scrappy, bargello, triple irish chain or hexagons. I probably won't make rail fence either. But, who knows. After I have made the thousands of others I would like to make, I just may change my mind. I've been known to do that on occassion. I still haven't figured out OBW and stack and whack so I'm not sure about those.

Don't junk them, send them to me!!! LOL Or any other quilter who will use them. Seriously there are many who do.

LOL its amazing how tastes differ and a good thing huh?
..how boring would the world be if it weren't for differences....ones I never want to do are some that I've done many of...but most patterns still appeal to me...scrap quilts I love but, dont want to do one

gale 02-06-2011 11:04 PM

A sampler. I like all the blocks to look the same or at least some kind of pattern to it.

Oooh, yeah. A sampler is definitely on my "NOT" list. Along with any thing that involves UN-sewing, like a tube bargello. I've done a strip bargello, but ixnay on the ubtay!

trif 02-07-2011 12:03 AM

I never say never, my taste will change over the Years I'm sure and you just don't know what the future will inspire.

Same here...tried OBW and hated the points in the centre - too bulky...tried paper piecing - I think it's beyond me...so I'll stick to patchwork and overworking my imagination!

janedee 02-07-2011 12:46 AM

has to be anything with Flying Geese have done one with a few in and that was enough!!!!

cherylynne 02-07-2011 12:58 AM

I like to make all kinds of quilts, but paper piecing is not my favorite.

zennia 02-07-2011 02:58 AM

I love looking at all the bargello quilts here but I would never try to make one. And I can not do scrappy, just cant. I need balance and organization.

This could have been me saying this. Did one small rag quilt, never again. Also 3-D bow tie and Grandmothers Flower Garden. Made one block of each of these and knew it was not for me.

granky 02-07-2011 03:45 AM

OBW, Grandmothers Flower garden and at the very top of the 'I don't want to do list' is the Cathedral Window! I love the Stack 'n Whack, but the OBW doesn't do a thing for me. To me it needs something to 'break it up'.

Darlene 02-07-2011 03:48 AM

paper piecing

jacee kay 02-07-2011 03:55 AM

I have no desire to make paper pieced quilts. Tried it and it took the fun out of quilting. Drove me nuts.
Rags are pretty but I don't want to make them either.

IngeMK 02-07-2011 03:58 AM

yoyos - maybe that's not even spelled right, lol
also, anything that requires handstitching.

Borntohandquilt 02-07-2011 04:00 AM

I think I will never do a quilt top that I have to piece or do appliqué... but I love to look at them! :)

I agree whole-heartedly! Unfortunately I don't have the time and money to do so!

Shelbie 02-07-2011 04:03 AM

I admire and appreciate all quilts but there are a few on my list that I don't think that I'll ever make. These include OBW, bargello, rag quilts, Grandmother's Flower Garden, Colour Wash, and Lone Star. I love to piece and I love scrap and I don't know if I'll ever find others that I enjoy as much.

Juliebelle 02-07-2011 04:16 AM

I have no desire to paper piece and I also am not crazy about Civil War prints, a little too muted for my bright taste.

I'm not much on applique (have done some and did not think my results were that great). I think it's beautiful and I see plenty that strike my fancy, but at least for now, I'll let someone else do them.

I agree, no paper pieced for me. Tried it once and never again.

makakehau 02-07-2011 05:28 AM

Sun Bonnett Sue just holds no
Appeal for me. I don't really care for the
Rag quilts either. They just look messy to me.
