I think it is neat that your husband is interested in your quilts. I know my husband does the same thing. Earlier this week someone at Walmart asked who the quilt I started is for. I told them I want to give them as weddings gifts. I then laughted and told her that none of my attempts have ever made it yet. :)

If our art was done with paint, would people expect us to quit painting when all our walls were covered? Would we then have to give it all away? We are artists, yes, even those of us who make traditional quilts, our "paints" are fabric and our paintbrushes are our sewing machines, or needle and thread. I will always create something beautiful with needle and thread...ALWAYS!!! As long as I physically am able.

I get the same question! Who or what is that for! I guess we creatives have a "need" to create and express that others do not understand! And my son thinks all of them are his!

I'm just now realizing it's okay to make a quilt "just because"

You know I get the same thing from my husband? Must be a man thing. When we moved years ago from Ca to NC he found we owned 56 quilts. I sold a lot and gave away a lot. Made the trip easier, for him . I enjoy quilting so much. I usually have several going at the same time. This makes me happy.

Every quilt I have made is because I liked the pattern - or liked the pattern I assigned to a gathering of fabrics. But I have to like the pattern - it goes a long way to subliminally getting me to my best work possible on the project.

All the quilts I've made went to kids, grandkids and some friends. I don't mind not having my own since I know how to make it.

I just make a quilt to try different patterns and sometimes if I need a gift I have one already made

i always give mine away, but in my own time!!!!!
