Hey hey I got three here in the land of fruit and nuts and paid $100 to $180. One was a white/creme one the $180 case etc.

These are pictures as they were sold and we had not cleaned them yet.

My grandmother used to have a saying -- "asking is one thing, getting is another"

In other words you can ask whatever you want but chances are you won't get what you're asking for it.

lillybeck 03-04-2011 09:22 AM

I guess someone will think they are getting a bargain.

NannySandy 03-04-2011 10:09 AM

I would love a featherweight, however, I don't "need" it so I can't see paying a ridiculous price for one. Some people lists them for way to high a price. There was a lavender one with white hearts painted all over it, on ebay the other day for $1750. It wasn't even cute or pretty. I want one that looks original. One day I will find one for a price that I can see paying, and will get it. Until then, I'll just keep looking and wishing.

I agree! The red one is gorgeous and did you see the box? If I had money to burn, I'd love to have this item!

Man someone really doesn't want to sell their machines huh? The red one has been one the new things where they take the old machine and repaint it loses value I think and you can get those around here for no more then 500 bucks. As for the other machine I have two just like that different years original everything including the books and I certainly didn't pay those prices and won't ever sell them even at those prices.

fivepaws 03-04-2011 11:42 AM

OMG!

DirtyPaw 03-04-2011 11:49 AM

LMAO...

G-Maw Wilda 03-04-2011 11:58 AM

You could have Billy (Lostn51) paint it for you for about a 1/3 of the price. He does beautiful custom work.

redpurselady 03-04-2011 12:14 PM

I have a red one which I ordered custom painted (my avatar) - certainly did not pay what they are asking.

Mine has the scroll face, box of attachments and the original case.

Roberta 03-04-2011 12:17 PM

I think the red one is beautiful but seriously, those prices?

When we had our auction prior to moving into the apt., I thought I had reached the jack pot when my featherweight went for $250. It was in excellent shape and sewed the mot beautiful straight stitch. Many times I wish I still had it.

Dee Dee 03-04-2011 12:59 PM

Oh my goodness! If anyone buys it, I want to see their picture!

auntiehenno 03-04-2011 01:06 PM

There is a company on the net that paints these, and does a very nice job from what I can see of them

ppquilter 03-04-2011 02:41 PM

I have seen a featherweight free-arm for sale for $1000 at an antique store, just didn't want it THAT bad! Some friends just gave me a featherweight in the org. case just cause she didn't sew or quilt and i did! God love your friends!

ann31039 03-04-2011 02:58 PM

i just saw a treadle on cl for $2000. looked just like mine.

quilt3311 03-04-2011 03:11 PM

Gosh I will sell mine for that price!! Then could buy 3 or 4 more.

crafty_linda_b 03-04-2011 03:16 PM

I saw a place online (can't remember where) the guy buys them, rebuilds and paints them all different metalic colors...reds, purples, blues, etc. Might be this same guy. I remember thinkiing who would pay that price for those machines? Guess someone who has more $$ than they know what to do with and doesn't even sew...just wanted a conversation piece in their home...

libber 03-04-2011 03:27 PM

Candy apple red is very hard on the eyes to me. He does not list all the attachments, nor does he rate it 1-10 like the antique people do. The black carrying case is very simple to restore. Libber Yup, I have a 222K.

Do what??? Are you kidding me. However, there will be someone out there who will pay that stupid price.

p38flygirl 03-04-2011 05:29 PM

Not my buying market for sure..

When I went to that estate sale today they had old machine and wanted a 120.00 and I thought that was to much...

Those people can keep there old machines....

Katz13203 03-04-2011 06:18 PM

I was reading on ebay the other day where someone was asking $1600.00 for a black featherweight and under the description it said: my grandmother doesn't know what kind of gold mine that she is sitting on. Guess what? No one bid on it.... that was way to much to ask for it.

I don't know about the black one, but the little red one has been repainted, and possibly purchased from someplace like Desk Dave's.com where they sell them for such prices. Check out his prices.

Rann 03-04-2011 09:19 PM

No, there were no original red 221's, nor purple, nor pink.
