Bert advises the first box of our quilts arrived safely in Afghanistan and they are being distributed to the first platoon. The men were told they couldn't have a quilt without getting a picture taken, LOL! Then he has to send the card from the camera to my daughter who has to then send the pics on to me………so it will still be a while before we “meet” our soldiers.
Oh, the waiting is so hard! But, I’m doing the happy dance in Bedford VA today, wahoo!! Jan in VA |

That's so wonderful to hear, yay!!! I have been following all that you have posted Jan. I'm sorry I couldn't donate any quilts at this time, finances just aren't there for shipping right now. I will continue to follow your threads. Thank you for being so kind and doing this for the troops.

Fantastic news.

I am so happy also I too could not donate this time out. I work with Binky Blankies, would love ot help with the military also. Maybe next time. We just had a div of guards leave for Iran yesterday. Thought we were not sending troops over there. Should tell the young mom to be whose first baby will be born Nov. 7th that we aren't sending troops over. I am so happy that the box got there safe and sound. Some happy troops yesterday...Yeh.. God Bless America and keep her free. Bless all who are in harms way or left at home waiting. and praying....Blessings

|
YAY...so glad the first box arrived...can't wait to see pics :)
|
The first box had 18 quilts and was shipped on Oct 5th or 6th, if I remember; all in all, it was about as predicted, as expected. Although I'm sure their arrival wasn't "as expected" as far as the men were concerned! Oh I hope it made a happy weekend!
You know as soon as I have pics of the men you all will see them. I *will* have pics of the shipped quilts before that, as soon as I get the thumb drive with them on it from my fellow Patriot Quilter who took them. She was out of town today. Still giggling! Jan in VA |

Oh how wonderful!! I don't know how we'll all wait to see the pictures. I can't stand the waiting and usually it's not a problem for me. I am so happy that the first box has gotten to the men! YEAH FOR JAN!!

Look forward to seeing the pictures. What a lovely thing to do. All our troops need our support in anyway that we can.

I have followed your journey with this project, how wonderful to have the first quilts delivered. It's an awesome thing you've undertaken. I was unable to participate at this time, but believe me I will when I am able.

I am so thrilled to read this post. I am still a newbie here and haven't started a quilt yet. I am a Soldiers' Angel to 3 soldiers in Afghanistan. Since I don't really know how to quilt I have started 3 no sew fleece blankets. I want to get them in the mail before I have surgery Tuesday. I love to know there are more Angels here. I had already figured out what a fine group of people are on this site. I'm glad I am here too.
|
Oh this is exciting news! I didn't know about your project as I don't get to spend as much time as I would like surfing around. I'd LOVE to participate next time around if you are doing it again...hopefully I won't miss the thread. Its such a nice thing to do and so important to those men...thanks everyone who worked on this...now I can't wait to see pics either!
|
Can't wait to see pictures! Thanks Jan for the oportunity to give.

How wonderful you all are. I don't believe I've read about that before. Special quilts for special people, made by special people.
