I haven't been able to find any thimbles that are comfortable or that fit me well. They are either too small or make my finger all sweaty!! Went into the LQS the other day and she suggested these finger pads--they are wonderful!!! They just stick to the tip of your finger and you can reuse them. So, if anyone is having trouble with thimbles, try these out!! They are small leather dots, when I'm binding my quilts I don't even notice that it is there and my finger feels so much better!! :-D :-D . I'm also going to use these when I try my hand piecing and quilting project.

I use them when I hand-quilt. I love them. :)

I've wondered about them, but I need the little ledge around my thimble when I hand quilt. It helps me keep the rhythm going.Maybe I'll try them for other hand sewing.

so, what type of thimble have you found that works for hand quilting? I'm going to start my little project this weekend would like any suggestions for other thimbles that may work!! :-D

I believe it is a Clover. Don't remember exactly. I've had it for like 3 years. They do tend to fit a little tight and seems to take some gettign used to. There is one I've seen that is rubber around the finger. My other tip I've picked up is to buy some finger cots in the band aid area of any store. They will help you grip your needle and pull it through once you have several stitches on it. SO much less frustrating!

I use them also but I put 2/3 inside a rubber finger (the kind you use in the office) and then put them on my finger so the little pad is right over the end of my finger. This is the only "thimble" I have ever been able to keep on LOL

I will have to give these a try. I can't keep a thimble on either. Thanks for the tip.

To this to an inexpensive thimble: Take a hammer and tap the rim of the thimble into an oval shape. It will fit so much better and be more comfortable. I found the best fitting thimble for me other then the ones I ovaled, it's the new Clover thimble, looks like a tiny badminton bird!

At Bents Old Fort in Colorado gift shop I found the one that works for me. Fits perfect. I lost the one that I got. E-mailed them and ordered a dozen of them. They all are great and I always have a thimble where ever I am. On marathon quilting days I use a stick on pad on my left middle finger. Keeps me going when the finger gets sore.
