leather with metal insert--or stick on dots----favorite is nothing if i can get away with it

Any thimble will do - as long it feels comfortable on your finger, won't fall off - and you use it!!

I use the Thimblelady stainless steel thimble for hand quilting. Rarely do a I use a thimble for just regular hand sewing. The Thimblelady also is open ended and allows you to push with the pad of your finger. I agree it's much more comfortable. Cost is about $30. I started with their plastic version for about 1/2 that to see if I like the style.

About a year ago my aunt gave me the little dots to try and they work for me. For quilting I use the Clover bronze colored open faced adjustable thimble, and I use the Roxanne thimble. I love both of these, they are very similar in style, they allow me to push the needle with the pad of my finger rather than the end, and that is what is most comfortable for me now. The Roxanne thimble is pretty expensive so when I needed a different size for when my fingers swell, I found the Clover one and noticed how similar they seemed, so I bought it and I do like it.

Having tried every thimble out there that was from $3 - $14, I finally gave up, bit the bullet and ordered a Roxanne. It should be here any day now. Sure hope for the prie that I like it.
It was a tough decision, I went back and forth between the Roxanne and the Thimble Lady one. |

(removing my post about odd bank charge...)

I like the silicone ones for regular sewing.

I use a leather one or the stick on dots.

I have rather small, thin fingers and long nails. I have had the toughest time finding thimbles that stay on my finger. Someone suggested buying children size thimbles, but I haven't found them yet. I've had the best luck with the leather thimbles because I can size them to fit, but they don't last very long.
I'm interested to know what other people with small fingers use. |
