I have recently began had quilting again and am looking for a thumb thimble. Found a great one in Netherlands but decided against it. Finally think I found what I am looking for at WAWAK.....no top and large enough for thumb and very reasonably priced....

I have a plastic thimble and some metal ones. I can't hand sew much without one. Otherwise I put holes in my finger.

I used to use a thimble when sewing on pre-made binding by hand, but I never liked them!

I use a sterling TJ Lane. I love that it is so pretty. But after reading this and checking out the website, I may be ordering one from Thimblelady also.

After taking a class: "Hand Quilting Without Pain" at a LQS in OKC where we were taught the Thimblelady technique, that's what I use for quilting! We got a plastic thimble in the class, and I used it to quilt my first big quilt... Ordered another, just to make sure I'm never without one!! Love it!!! Can't wait to start quilting again... Just do a search and you'll find her...
For regular sewing I use a traditional thimble, though...

the plastic Thimblelady IS still available online! (It's the thimble that fits my budget!!) I'll be looking for the Roxanne, though, (just to try) since so many of you have recommended it!

I just looked at thimble lady website....that is a ridiculous price for thimbles. Who needs a gold or silver thimble----paris Hilton maybe but not me! Someone is really making $$$$ on that "notion".

nope, not kidding ;-) Haven't had to buy a thimble in 8 years, so I guess I'm doing just fine. Like I said, just for protection while binding.

I had a ladie tall me that she made her thimble with tape that kind that dose not stick and them cover it with frist ad tape. dose any one do this? would like to know more.
