Great Grandma 10-07-2011 11:16 AM

My husband was amused. I had called the doctor's office for an order for my mammogram (Monday). They left a message, " Mr. ----, you can pick up your mammogram order any time at the front desk."

remareis 10-07-2011 11:24 AM

congrats, had mine

lilacquilt 10-07-2011 11:26 AM

I couldn't resist the chance to offer my inspiration. I am now a little over a 31 year breast cancer survivor and...I am also an eight year uterine cancer survivor. Hang in there ladies--a positive attitude is a BIG advantage. Bless you all.

caspharm 10-07-2011 11:32 AM

Always get mine, last done in Sept.

My mom is a two time survivor, once each breast. It's been quite a few years for year. Also, no BRCA genes.

mucky 10-07-2011 02:18 PM

plmsmith 10-07-2011 02:31 PM

decky 10-07-2011 02:59 PM

So happy for you for the good news. I'm scheduled to see the breast cancer doctor in November for a checkup for a world wide study that I'm on. Not due for my mammo until April of next year.

cherrio 10-07-2011 04:40 PM

I have one every 2 years. The breast screen people here send me a reminder and I make an appointment as soon as I get that letter.

jansquiltn 10-07-2011 04:42 PM

Got mine! The girls are good to go!

QuilterToo 10-07-2011 05:56 PM

Me too! It was the first year I was going to skip one, but had to have other x-rays so went ahead and had it. Those "calcium deposits" got me to a surgeon and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center very fast, and I'm here to brag after being "a pathologist's challenge" and 2 surgeries, 2 sets of different chemotherapies (hair and nail loss of course), 6 weeks of daily radiation therapy, and 5 years of taking an estrogen blocker. We're awaiting my 2nd grandchild!

12 year survivor

milikaa1 10-07-2011 07:06 PM

Yeah for you! I am glad you are a survivor, such a blessing...I am a melanoma survivor.

stinger 10-07-2011 07:41 PM

I love that quilt. Can I find that quilt pattern in a book. My mother just found out that she has cancel. This quilt would make her smile.

snicktrain 10-07-2011 07:43 PM

Seven years here. My daughter is 3 years. Yeah. Two other daughters are clean and don't miss theirs.  I used to avoid them for as long as possible. Now, I'm first in line. Will not put them off any longer. :-D

kerrytaylor 10-07-2011 07:45 PM

Ok, so my yearly deductible has just been met after going in for that other test they give you once you turn 50. Surely you know which one, ugh. With that, I will be scheduling my yearly mammogram. Been putting it off since the reminder card arrived in May. So not smart. I didnt want the bill$.

Joanne9of12 10-07-2011 07:52 PM

Congrats on your survival! As I was walking in my 4th Susan G. Komen 60 mile 3-Day event two years ago, I spoke to a woman who, at age 59 had never had a mammogram. When I asked why (as politely as possible), she said she was too scared to find out the results. We've kept in touch through e-mail and I was so glad when she told me that in honor of my walking again this past summer, she had a mammogram! I was so excited for her, especially when the results were all good. Congratulations to all you survivors and for those still battling, you are in my prayers.

BettyJean 10-07-2011 08:34 PM

me too!

Sienna's GiGi 10-08-2011 01:26 AM

Good looking out. I can't get my first one until 40 but I check often.

orangeroom 10-08-2011 01:29 AM

Good for you!

Phyllis42 10-08-2011 08:30 AM

Yes. A mammo is important. Went 18 months due to a major move. A suspicious spot and they can't determine after two mammos, and a sonagram, with a biopsy scheduled. Even if it is the big C, it will be caught early enough, hopefully.

Glassquilt 10-08-2011 10:20 AM

Congratulations

nancia 10-09-2011 12:51 AM

hooray!! welcome to the survivor club! it's over 25 years for me and i'm going strong!! had both removed and i still have to get mammograms, but it's worth it to hear every year that everything is good! i'll be seeing you in another 25 yrs!
phyllis42-- hang in there! waiting for results is really nerve racking! sorry you have to go through that! but stage 1 is very treatable and i'm glad you got the mammogram! i'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

Great advise from a 12 yr. survivor!

Rusty's Mama 10-09-2011 06:45 PM

Just had a six month f/u to check a clip that was inserted after a biopsy of a mass. F/U was fine - good to go till next annual mammogram. My mother died of breat cancer - I am faithful with my mammograms. Best wishes and prayers to all you survivors!

lynn_z 10-10-2011 09:58 AM

I just went thru my annuals...24 survivor years here after "too late" diagnosis. (10 yrs chemo). Every year I still realize I had better finish some quilts just in case. Nobody else could figure out my stash.

NIICHMOM 10-17-2011 09:10 AM

I have several famiy members that have pasted away due to cancer. But I am a surviver of breast cancer for 8 yrs. I also remind all my friends to go for their Mamagrams......
I just got out of the hosipital again for the 3rd time, due to infection, but lucky it didn't make it to the blood line.
