Got this today from about.quilting. I thought it was pretty awesome looking and only uses HSTs and 4patch blocks.

Very pretty, thanks.

That is a gorgeous quilt. I have bookmarked it here and also in favorites. I would love to make it for youngest DD for Christmas.

thanks for sharing

I saw that earlier this week too and bookmarked it...Not sure if it's because of the Batiks that I feel in love with it....LOL

I use About.com:Quilting myself. Janet always has some really good and complete instructions. I'm working on some UFO's right now, but that is one for me to consider AFTER that is done. Oh, and after the scrap challenge is finished. Uggh. Not enough time!!! :-)

Thank you.that is pretty!!!

I love the jewel box pattern. I started one several years ago when my cousin-in-law was pregnant. Her daughter is now... six? seven? What happened is that I used scraps, and well, it's just, .... boring. I got bored making it. I didn't think (and still don't think) that it's a little girl's quilt. And frankly I don't think it's all that interesting for anyone.
The black background in the one linked to above is very dramatic though. I may try it again at some later date. In the meantime, I keep working slowly but surely away at this undesirable UFO jewel box. I carry the scraps in a zip lock back and hand piece a little here and a little there. my undesirable jewel box (squares not yet sewn together) |

Beautiful, thanks for sharing!
|
thanks for the encouragement. i can't see "beautiful" but I can see that I've already put in a lot of work, so I want to finish it even though I've lost "heart" in it. I've played around with putting sashing in between, but it doesn't really add anything.

I think its pretty!

I've done a few of these and they are very stunning!!! Almost like a Jacobs Ladder......

I love that pattern. I also subscribe to About.com and saw this pattern and printed it. I would love to make it with the black and batiks as shown. --But I am now hand quilting one quilt, machine piecing another, and hand piecing a third one. One of these has to get finished before I start the Jewel Box.
|
Wow that is really striking with the jewel colors. I also bookmarked it for future reference..... Just in case I run out of projects!LOL
|
Love that pattern,,,have made a couple in my time. They are really pretty!
|
I have also bookmarked this pattern , I really love that look , thank you for sharing this Link :D
|
thnx for sharing...
this one will go in the pile of "when i get my seams to line up properly" i will attempt it lol |
I really like it ! Keep at it, you're doing great ~~
|
I have a queen size one, diagonal set with a black background that I only need to finish quilting the sashing & bind it. One of my groups did swap blocks and the hostess specified no pink because she planned to give hers to her son. Yours is very pretty and I think it is "girly". This girl likes it! ;)
|
Jillaine...I think your quilt will be pretty when it's finished. You know how sometimes quilts just don't look right when they're in bits and pieces, but put them together and wow! Be sure and keep us posted!
|
I like this pattern, thanks for the link.
I also think you should finish your UFO if you still don't like it when it's completed you can donate to a charity of choice and still have the weight lifted off your shoulders. |
Very pretty!!!
|
I made this, black and very bright colors, for my grandson when he turned 18. He loves it, says it's his treasure on cold winter evenings No TV watching without it.
|
It's a pretty block, I like the Black and looks like Batiks were used.
Projection suggestion:::: Maybe a block swap on here someday...? |
Thanks.
|
I love this! Thanks for posting.

This would be a great quilt to piece using Bonnie Hunters method of leaders and enders. After I finish piecing a quilt top, I cut my leftovers into usable sizes and place them next to my machine. I use these for leaders and enders when working on another project. This saves time and thread.
Check out quiltville.com for more information. |
That is a nice pattern. I love the black. I have some blenders and tonals that would look great in that pattern. Thanks for sharing.
