I use tissue boxes for plastic grocery bags too. I noticed some of you put dryer lint in them. Have you ever put dryer lint in a corrugated egg carton and poured melted wax on them? They make good fire starters, just cut one egg sized piece off when you need to start BBQ grill or fire in fireplace.

Speaking of which........ don't spend dollars buying a cone holder. Instead take a plastic soda bottle, water bottles and cut bottom out. Put cone under the bottle pulling thread through top hole and there you could. Thread your machines and sew, sew, sew.
I also use my round one gallon water plastic jugs and cut the top at first rim and use it to catch my snippets and such. The top part I use as a dome for germinating new seeds into plants. I cover top part with sarah wrap and put it over container I have seed pods and let the greenhouse do it's thing. When it starts sprouting stems/leaves I take the piece of sarah wrap off and let it grow some more. When it is about to reach the top of the dome I transplant it into a pot such as empty coffee cans and the like and when that grows some more I use a larger container if it warrants it. |
I don't think that anyone will argue the point that quilters know how to recycle and help the environment.

A lot of great uses - I keep one in my car for a trash can. When full I throw it out. Also take them to sewing retreats because they are small.
