When I decided to make a quilt using a lot of different food fabrics, I was glad I had read on here that many of you use neutral colors to piece. I used a light beige. It worked well! Thank you all for all your helpful advice here!

Black, white, natural, cream, and lots of shades of gray. I do have all the Connecting Threads colors but for piecing use the above.

grey

Dark and medium grey, brown and maroon for piecing and usually varigated shades for quilting.

I use ecru cotton thread for everything except the handwork on the binding. Then I use the color that matches the binding. Edie

I use grey when working with black and white fabrics; beige on most colors and a good Moda Red thread when doing Christmas green and reds.
|
I use light grey since it blends in so well with just about everything for piecing. For longarm many different colors.
|
Black, white, gray (several shades)for piecing. Have a huge stash of thread for thread painting though. Bottom Line for bobbin thread.
|
cream for piecing - no matter what the colors I'm working on. - but I tend to do lighter colors so it doesn't matter

I use taupe and dark gray for piecing since most of my quilts are scrappy. In the last year or two, I've started using 60 wt for piecing. It makes a quarter inch seam easier to achieve.
