I usually use a neutral for piecing, but have been known to use up odds and ends of other colors

I use greys and creams unless working on pure white or pure black...then I switch to white and/or black.

I use the large spools of Superior Bottom Line...works great top and bobbin and saves money. I love the taupe shade as IMHO gray is a kind of sad color. I do use cream or white if the fabrics are white.

To Chris who said: Who wants to mend when one can quilt?
Have you heard, "Asking a quilter to mend is like asking Picasso to paint the garage."

Thanks. I usually use Superior Threads Masterpiece. I know the Connecting Threads price is 1/2, but I'm not sure it's the same quality as I'm using.

I'm that Chris and completely agree. However, DH doesn't quite see it that way. :(

I love your idea of using whatever is in the machine to do the mending. That might make the 16 yr boys think twice about asking for stuff to be mended.
