I have a Janome 6500 and the thread cutter is a pain. When I use it and then start to sew again, the thread knots up at the back of my fabric and I have to use the seam ripper to pull it out. I have spoke to the president of Janome Canada and he can't seem to give me an answer as to why it does it or how I can fix the problem, so it is easier not to use it. And when I spoke to the store where I bought it and she used the thread cutter on her 6600, it did the same thing.

Hi- I have two Viking embroidery machines. The thread cutter is activated via a button on the front of the machine over a bit and to the left of the needle. I find it a "must have" but then I am a "sewing snob" and admit it! LOL!/ Lissa

I have a Janome 6600 and 1600p thay have thread cutters and knee lifts and I love them. My cutter is on the front by the tension dial.Marsey wrote

my machine does not have one, so i bought a tiny stick on one and put it on the left hand side of the machine, i use it all the time, have had it a long time, dont' remember where i got it.

My Viking does not have a thread cutter. But my Pfaff GrandQuilter does and I use it all the time. That machine sits on a frame and the cutter makes life so much easier.

I agree, my 1600p Janome is on a newjoy Magic frame, and the cutter is a blessing.

Have you always had this problem with your cutter?
Do you ever take off the needle plate and clean out all the fuzzzzzz that get's in there, the fuzz gets under the bobbin holder, feed dog, and auto thread cutter mechanism. I have a small brush I use, along with air in a can, and vacuum. I would try cleaning it, and if that wont help take it to the shop if you can.

I hae a brother with knee lift and thread cutter can't live wihout it. You know it is amazing how we get spoiled to the little things in life. I have a Janome gold that does not have these features and I hardly use it.
