I think you will be fine. I have a thread holder across from my windows and no problems. It's been there for years. Great find!

I just put all my thread on a pegboard and I love it. My problem is if things are out of sight (Boxes or drawers) I forget I have them and repurchase the items over and over. you'll be fine.

I used to use a rack but gave it up as my thread got dusty and it's a bear to clean. Now I store them in see through boxes. I don't begin to have the collection that hobbycat1955 does however.

I know why my house is so dusty. Because I don't dust too often! LOL But the real reason is because I live on a dirt road. Gravel road. Even with all the windows closed, it seems to seep in. This is where you drive down the middle of the road, until you happen to meet a car going the other way. Then, when you are almost side by side, you both wave. That's when you know you live in Wisconsin.

I think thread racks are great on the wall and look so pretty. However, I am not sure about practical application. I store my thread in drawers in a plastic cabinet. I separate it by fiber content and/or color/ or size. I store all polyester thread together; all rayon thread together; cotton 50 and 60 weight by color; 40 weight all together. It works quite well. I make a point of putting thread from a project away before I work on another one. If there are time spans before working on a project, I store the thread I am using with that project for fear I might use it up and not be able to find more.
