Thread Spool Board

We went to the yard sales this morning and I couldn't resist a sewing machine shaped spool board for my sewing room-to-be. Then I got home and remembered being told it was better to have your thread in a drawer away from light, dirt, etc. If I don't have any sunshine on my board will my thread last as long?

I think it will be fine to store the thread on it out of the light. Another thing you could do is just make a cover for it. Thread sitting out does have a tendency to get dusty in my house. I would love to know why my house gets so dusty. But, it sounds really cute! Enjoy it.

P.S. you could also just hang it as decoration. Ooo, you could paint it too.

I have thread stored on a metal sewing machine thread holder not in direct light. It has been fine.

I have 2 wooden thread holders. They are on a wall away from light and have been fine. I don't reallly seem to have that much dust in my sewing room so that's not a problem.

I've had my thread on the wall for years and it's fine.

Wow is that one big rack? If yes, did you make it or buy it (Where)...to me that's like a piece of art hanging, very interesting...

Much of this thread looks to me to be polyester or rayon (for embroidery). It is much different than cotton and can withstand being out while storing.

I'm not so sure about rayon - I've always thought rayon was comparatively fragile.

I had a pegboard for thread. It hung behind the door but it still got dusty after some time.

My all cotton threads have been hanging on wooden spool holders for 7+ years. Next to a window, so it gets no light. When I use it I just dust it off. Sewing is very dusty. I do not intend to move it.
