I like to use ribbon if it is for a girl/woman even though it sometimes doesn't stay tied in the bow. I double knot it before tying the bow so that part stays just fine even with the satin ribbon.
Its all a matter of personal preference either on your part or ob the part of the intended recipient. |
My granny tied all of her quilts with knitting yarn. I have one of them she did when she was first married at 14. I'm 62, so it's pretty old!! LOL!

I use embroidery floss, too. Use a surgeons knoe to tie it and it won't work loose.

-------------------- I didn't know they still made Pretty Punch, my sister quit selling it when they sold the company and started making the yarn differently. She gave me all her stash as a dealer. Thanks for the idea, I'd forgotten I still had it. That's what I'll use now. |
Depending on the quilt, I use 6 strand embroidery floss, or 100% wool. I like the little "buttons" wool creates after washing the quilt!, and sometimes I"ll blend wool and embroidery floss to create a certain color effect...
