I use the prewound only for embroidery.

Different machines use different bobbin sizes. What works in one may not work in another. My 2 Pfaff's use different bobbins. So ... I love those round rubberlike bobbin holders. I have somewhat color coded them and then marked them with a permanent marker as to which machine and what thread type. Not, I an definitely not OCD ... just like to be organized and ready to sew!

Same thread top and bottom except if I am doing embroidery and then I use embroidery thread on top and bobbinfil on bottom.

I always wind my own bobbins on the machine they will be used in. I find the Coats and Clark cotton wrapped poly to work well for me on all my projects. I use a cream color (I think the number is 8010) for all my projects. Haven't had any problem showing through, even on dark fabrics. I haven't had any lint issues either. Also, it's less expensive than some other name brand threads and you can find it on sale at JoAnn's and Hancocks for 50% off. That's when I buy a lot of spools.

I'm glad to see others say that they use Coats and Clark thread. I'm still a beginner quilter, but I've been sewing clothing for some time, so all my thread is C&C. And, so far, I haven't seen a reason to use anything else.
