Three Rail Fence. My first

2 Attachment(s)
OK, as I promised here is my little quilt. I did stitch in the ditch. I haven't mastered the stippling yet. It is 42"x48". Make a great quilt for a child or for watching TV. Thanks for looking. I think I am on my way to a bigger one now. This is my first pieced quilt. Hope to do a bigger one, next time I will do better.

I love your quilt, and your stitch in the ditch looks perfect! Your fabric is so cheerful....I love butterflies and purple!!

You did a great job on your rail fence. Such a nice first of many quilts.

alisonquilts 09-02-2012 03:39 PM

Awesome rail fence! I've only done very boring layouts of this pattern; yours is much more interesting.

It's lovely! If I were a kid again, I'd get a little car and drive through those purple roads! Love it!

virtualbernie 09-02-2012 03:42 PM

I never thought to do a rail fence in just 2 fabrics! How cool is that!!!!!!!!!!

DonnaR 09-02-2012 03:44 PM

It is just wonderful. Love the colors.

QuiltingKrazy 09-02-2012 03:56 PM

WOW! That is a great looking layout! Gives that pattern a whole new look! or at least for me! love it!

QUILTNMO 09-02-2012 03:56 PM

i love your fabric choices very pretty!!!

kayluvs2quilt 09-02-2012 03:57 PM

Just blown away with that quilt...awesome layout just using two fabrics. Will have to share this one with our quilt ministry with your permission.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 09-02-2012 04:12 PM

Using just 2 fabrics makes it look like a maze or some kind of Greek design. I really like it. Very unusual.

texpat45 09-02-2012 05:20 PM

What Lisa wanna b quilter said! Great first quilt

Stitchnripper 09-02-2012 06:51 PM

Sounds like what my dh would say. He said when he was a kid, he loved to play on quilts that had "roads", (sashing between blocks).

thank you all for all the wonderful words. It makes me want to do another quilt. I was so pleased with the turn out on this one. I am going to try to stick to the easy ones until I get more experience. Don't give up on me I will be posting another one soon I hope. Everyone have a wonderful and safe Labor Day. All of you have inspired me to get going on Quilting. I read this QB everyday. Love it and have learned so much, there is a lot of informative Lady's on here, I hope one day to be as smart. :)

Love the two fabric look. I've never thought of it, but will make one soon. Yours looks great!

4EVERquilt 09-02-2012 08:11 PM

I think you did an awesome job!! Now on to the next one.

spokanequilter 09-02-2012 08:37 PM

Oh, I want to make one of these!!! It's a wonderful quilt, and it looks like you did a great job. I agree with others that the rail fence using two fabrics gives a wonderful look. My 2-year old grandson would have his little trucks on it, driving all those roads!

QuiltnNan 09-03-2012 03:48 AM

you did a great job... can't believe it is your first. i love that butterfly fabric... i used it in my DGDs quilt.

teddysmom 09-03-2012 03:56 AM

Didn't know I could make a rail fence with just two colors. BTW, purple is my very favorite color!

piepatch 09-03-2012 04:22 AM

Good job! I love the butterfly fabric, and all the pretty colors.

Go ahead, they would love it, lots of ways to lay it out. Using different colors makes a big difference. :)

It is simply beautiful and I love the maze effect. Very interesting - looks more complicated, haha. :-)

Very colorful and pretty quilt. I think I have that butterfly fabric in my stash!

star619 09-04-2012 03:12 AM

What a clever variation on rail fence! I love it. It has a "lattice" effect, to it could be rather oriental with different fabrics. This is a keeper. Thanks for sharing!

Shayvian 09-04-2012 03:23 AM
