I am going to try to send a pictures of my thrift store find.
It was 6.88 with an orange tag which meant I got it for 30%
off of that. I just had to have it. Nothing fancy but I didn't have
any decorative stitches on mine so this will help some.

Homespun 05-03-2011 06:07 PM

very pretty machine

Sweeterthanwine 05-03-2011 06:27 PM

Great find. You just have to be there at the right time. I have a singer in the original cabinet that I bought at a second hand store for $35.00. They didn't know it had a sewing machine in it. All the attachments and instruction manual where in the cabinet. I was really lucky.

cjomomma 05-03-2011 06:28 PM

Good for you!!!

Our thrift stores have an inflated idea of what everything should be worth, then double that price.

I've never had a bargain in ours except for one that is not quite so upscale. Get a lot of sheets there, good ones for an average of $2.99 and half price on Saturdays.

RedGarnet222 05-03-2011 07:46 PM

Nice! You sure can't beat the price!

Airwick156 05-03-2011 07:53 PM

Way to go. You did good. And shes "colorful" even. LOL

Sewfine 05-03-2011 09:34 PM

Thrift stores here do not have anything like that or fabric. Good buy.

Jammin' Jane 05-03-2011 09:37 PM

WOW! You sure hit the jackpot!
Have fun!

Nanamoms 05-03-2011 11:21 PM

Very nice!! I think our trift stores have caught on to the sewing machine craze because I never find any...not even fabric. :(

JanG 05-04-2011 03:33 AM

I knew you had to be from Alabama. LOL. My favorite thrift store is in Pell City and always stop when we are traveling back and forth from Florida to Michigan. I have found some great buys and even an old 99 Singer for $6.88!! This thrift store even has a senior day every week.

pocoellie 05-04-2011 03:56 AM

Great buy!!

justlooking 05-04-2011 05:09 AM

I know what you mean, goosepoint. I'm always a day late and a dollar short. Haha :)

Stitchnripper 05-04-2011 05:27 AM

Great find. And, at that price, it was almost free!!

Maia B 05-04-2011 08:04 AM

Wow! Extremely similar to my old 9410 and my mom's 6234 from 1990. I wonder if my leftover bobbins, 1/4" "Littlefoot" and acrylic insert for my Horn table would fit it. I purchased those separately, so I didn't hand them in when I traded my machine in, thinking my mom might use them. But I her better machines instead :) I've been looking for a home for them. PM me if you are interested.

clhornak 05-04-2011 08:40 AM

Thrift stores seem to be the in thing. Good for you!

nhnative 05-04-2011 01:51 PM

Wow that's really cheap for such a machine. I bought an old singer #368 with a cabinet for $10 at an estate sale in Ohio

Ginaky 05-04-2011 01:54 PM

Does it have a slant needle? If it does, I may have some extra things that will go with it.

Nettie Phillips 05-04-2011 05:08 PM

No, it is not a slant needle but thanks anyway.

Going there often is the answer. The only reason I go so much is
that it is my husbands favorite pass time. Ha! I do find things a lot
so I don't complain to much. Ha!

Mariposa 05-04-2011 05:35 PM

Congrats!

audsgirl 05-04-2011 08:56 PM

I never see anything nearly that nice in the thrift stores around here. That is a serious bargain!

Beffy_Boo 05-05-2011 12:34 AM

Yay for you!

darlenedowns 05-05-2011 06:05 AM

newell 05-05-2011 10:21 AM

Whenever I go to the local Goodwill or any thrift shop I very rarely if ever find anything as great has some of you have. The only thing I've ever found was a large ziplock bag full of thread that turned out to be very bad as it broke after sewing 5-10 stitches! I ended up using it for basting my quilts with it -- even then it kept breaking. I eventually threw a lot of it in the garbage. I couldn't open the baggy as it was stappled shut. Maybe I should have done it anyway.

GrannyHanaDa 05-05-2011 05:41 PM

Great find.
