Excellent choice on the sashing and borders. These will look great in the quilt. what a tribute to the artist.

quiltingranny 03-01-2011 09:02 AM

It will be beautiful! Can't wait to see the finished product.

jean vangunten 03-01-2011 09:14 AM

jean here
i'm doing some flowers almost like yours. i used rayon thread and put a light batting under the flower area and did some thread play in the leaves and flowers before i put the quilt together.then once you sandwich it together and quilt it, it looks like trapunto and most of your quilting is done for you

That layout will definitely make your floral squares a show-stopper! Tried to find the original thread where you posted your "inheritance" but couldn't. Please post a picture of your completed quilt.

cdufur 03-01-2011 06:50 PM

Good choice. Are these the blocks you picked up at an estate sale or something? They are beautiful.

You will LOVE it!!!! I can't wait to go every year.

Scakes 03-01-2011 07:10 PM

Love the possible layout. When is the Dallas show and where? I'll be in Ft Worth around the 10th of March to about the 21st.

Scakes 03-01-2011 07:15 PM

I got my senses together and found the Dallas show! Yes! We'll be there then so I'm planning on at least 1 day. Thanks so much for mentioning it . I probably would never have known about it otherwise.

tinliz 03-01-2011 07:44 PM

I like this layout better than the first one you posted. It has more movement and looks "lighter" with those delicate blocks. Happy shopping. anxious to see your finished quilt.

I know, from your previous posting, that you inherited those hand painted blocks. I think your layout is gorgeous! The blocks are treasures and you are treating them with love. Kudos! Please post when finished. I can imagine how wonderful the quilt will look and feel. I think that's what we would all love. If we were unable to finish our precious quilting for any reason, it would help our hearts to know our treasures are being treated well and loved. Thank you from all of us.

 :-P
