#1 Love the colors in your quilt and either setting would be beautiful but #1 is my choice

I like them both, but I think #1 wins out.

There is another way to do this. That would be to separate completely the quilt from the border fabric. No 1 and No 2 both are the same as fabric next to it. By using a different stop border, you would separate the fence rails from the border colors.
What to use for a stop border? Good question. Black? Gold? A very thin line of white? Black is already in the quilt, so that would work. I guess you would have to try some if you think you might do this. |

2nd photo. I love the dark starry fabric, then the turquoise, and the wider final border out of the other dark fabric.
But purple somewhere in there would look great, too! |
I like #2 also. I think the inner border should just be a small frame for the quilt. Love the quilt by the way.
