Take your time and enjoy the process!

when i first started binding quilts it seemed to take a long time- i would work on it for an hour or so- then put it aside for awhile- a few years later- i have certainly sped up! now i can do the hand part on a queen size quilt in about 3-4 hours
used to take days!
practice not only makes perfect- it also increases your speed
don't worry about how long it (should take) it SHOULD TAKE AS LONG AS IT TAKES!
everyone is different with different skills- and work at different speeds

It usually takes me awhile. It's not a race you know and you should enjoy every minute. Remember, it's the final step and seems to be taking a long time as you are anxious to get it done so you can start a new project.

Anything worthwhile takes time. No one is standing behind you to punish you if you don't work faster, you aren't working in a factory where time and product are measured.
Take your time and the job will be done right, it is the doing it over that wastes time. Do it right the first time no matter how long it takes. Who is to know how long you worked on something?
If I had to work in a time frame I would give up sewing anything. I do it to relax.

I takes me a while. I usually do it in the evenings while watching TV. I limit how much I do at once, unless I am in a hurry because I can see that my work gets sloppier over time and my hands start to cramp. I always enjoy that part of the quilt and I never seem to have enough quilts to bind. I even do my placemats with hand binding because I love to do it. Am I just crazy?!

Doing the hand work on the binding takes me a long time, too. That's probably why I don't like to do it. But I do it because I love the look.
It sounds like you are right on schedule.

it does take a long time to hand stitch binding. one reason i hardly ever do it by hand these days. i did a 90x90 qlt recently and it took two days. my fingers took much longer to get over it.

It is sort of like a road trip... it seems to take forever to get home. LOL

Even though I enjoy hand sewing the binding, it does take
me quite awhile to do it. turn the Tv on & enjoy while you
work.

I like to sew the binding down by hand, looks so nice and neat.

I was just wondering if anyone does the final sewing down by machine? I do it once in a while by machine sewing to the back then turn to front and machine stitch that down. I do that if the quilt will get rugged wear by children. Prefer the look of the hand sewn 'though.
