Tin Lizzie Ram

We got the new frame and machine all set up. When setup in Constant mode the machine runs great but in Lizzie stitch mode, when I press start and see stitch indicate on like she is ready to go but when I move the machine nothing happens. 12 seconds later Stitch turns off. I checked and the both encoders appear to be rolling fine and have reseated and even swapped the encoder cables where they plug into the machine. Not sure how to check the connection on the encoder end. Any ideas before I call the LQS?

I have no suggestions, but I sure hope you get her going soon. Must be some step you are just missing. Surely someone here has an idea.

Problems with the encoders, wires and connectors seem to be kind of an ongoing issue with the Tin Lizzies. I seem to have to replace them every 18 months or so.
If the wheels are tracking OK, then it's probably a wiring or other electronic issue.

I hate to admit this, especially on a forum as widely read as this one, but I also had this problem with my Lizzie Ram. After many hours of frustration I finally noticed some shipping tape on the bottom of the sled that was keeping the stitch regulator sensor from making a proper connection. A simple fix for me. I hope you find a simple fix.

Thanks for the idea AudreyB. I went and looked but do not see any tape. I hope it's something simple like that. Neither encoder seems to be communicating to either set of handles. There are 2 encoders, cables and ports to plug into and neither works. It's weird and disappointing especially after all of my great guy's hard work to set it up.

If neither encoder is not communicating maybe you have the wired crossed. unplug them and switch then one at time ad see if either will work in the new location.

I don't have a LA. I sure hope you can get it working properly.

Called the dealer this morning and took the machine and trays with the encoders on them in to be checked. The technician determined that the wrong cables were included with the encoders. Brought it back home and it works great. The service was wonderful. Tomorrow I will install the leaders and be ready to start quilting.

I loaded a practice piece yesterday and must say this machine is FUN! I didn't have to adjust tension or anything. The stitches looked great right out of the box. I enjoyed the Brother PQ1500S but the larger quilting area and the stitch regulator makes all the difference.
