Mariah and JudyKay, The link to the spray glue is in post #23 in this thread. It says to add the flour to the boiling water, but others have added the flour to one cup of cold water, and then poured that into 2 cups of boiling water. That's the way I would do it.

I use the glue sticks to stick the printed pattern pieces to file folder or thin poster board ($1 store) and then cut them out for templates for making my stuffed animals. That way I have all of the original markings of the pattern. Have also used the glue sticks for adhering applique items when I hadn't used the double-sided fusible stuff. Lots of neat uses for it. :-)

I found tips at Walmart. They are Plaid Fine Tip Tops. $5.97 for 6 in a pack. They are to screw on a bottle of craft paint, but they fit perfectly on the Elmer's bottle. They are near the craft paint. The line is really thin so I think it will work perfectly for application of the School Glue. You can even squeeze out tiny dots.

I am in Wally World often, I will check that out and I want to think each and everyone for all of your comments. You all have been very helpful.

I 've been reading about using Elmer's glue as a way of basting and decided to try it on a baby quilt. DH was with me when I went to get the glue at the drugstore and he picked up the store brand because it was cheaper. BIG MISTAKE. The glue didn't come out in a thin stream and took forever to dry. The sewing went fine, everything held together very well. The problem came when I had to wash it out. It has left shadow marks on the fabric. Even after 3 washings (I used color catcher sheets and they were still not white). The quilt isn't totally ruined, if you didn't know it you wouldn't see the problem. But I do.
Next time I will only use Elmer's. |
I pour a small amount in a container & add the tiniest amount of water to thin the mix and spread on my quilt - works wonderfully. I use a rubber spatula to dab it on and spread, and then let it dry overnight. I'm going to pick up a 1 inch brush to do the job my next trip to Walmart. I won't quilt another quilt again without my Elmers washable glue.
