I like it, it is dark but what's wrong with that? I think it's one of the nicest T shirt quilts I've seen.
How about adding binding with a flange (accent strip) You can google Susies Magic Binding for a photo tutorial or watch the video at this link... http://www.52quilts.com/2015/02/susi...-tutorial.html
I have used this binding method. The binding is done all by machine. I like your dark border. By adding the flange (a tiny strip of color ) beside a dark binding would tie the quilt together. Good luck! Your quilt is lovely! |
I would take off the last dark border and use something brighter.
I wouldn't take the borders off. I think it looks great the way it is. I also love the way you shadowed the t shirts. Very nice quilt
I love it. It has a very stylish look, which is hard to achieve with a Tshirt quilt. I may borrow this idea myself. Thanks for sharing with us.
I like it as is. This is the best setting I have seen as a T-shirt quilt!
I like it..makes the quilt pop...good choice for a contrast between the lighter background and dark border...
I think it looks good as is! You did a great job on this quilt and made the "T-shirt" absolutely pop!
copycat - thanks for the flange binding tip. I will see if I feel like I can accomplish that. I love trying new things :)
I think it is perfect
Your quilt looks great. I love the way you put the tee shirt blocks together. I like the batik inner border, I just don't love it but could live with it. From a distance it does't show up very well. I would audition a different solid color from one of the tee shirts to see if I didn't like it better. If another color does do anything for it, I'd leave it the way it is.
I too think it's perfect the way it is. The dark borders really make the t-shirts the focus and the batik ties all the colors together without distracting from the t-shirts.
Great quilt! I don't think it's too dark at all. I've never done a t-shirt quilt before but admire them all the same. You did a really nice job.

I bought some batik for the narrow 1" inside border, but it doesn't show up like I had pictured. What do you think - should I take the borders off or just leave it as it is? I like it. Think you did a wonderful job. Not a big batik fan, but this looks great it grabs all the colors without taking away from the T-shirts. Like I said, I really like it. Your niece will love it.
I would absolutely leave it as it is, it's beautiful. Nicely done.
It's perfect. Wouldn't change a thing. The darker borders define the quilt, and the light gray is light/bright enough to give great contrast and enhance the T shirts.

copycat - your quilt is great! very bright and cheery great job. The binding is great. I am going to study that video
I love it just the way it is. It couldn't get any better in my opinion.
I would leave it. I like the way you did this quilt. The small border picks up the colors in the t-shirt blocks.
Looks great to me!
I l ike the dark border. It allows the focus to be on the colorful shirts. I wouldn't change a thing!
Thanks everyone! Now I will start on quilt top #2 :)
I think its great.
I think you could leave as is and it would be fine. I personally like color so I would have added a narrow black border (2" finished) and then used a batik with shades of aqua or lime; or both ( whatever your color is in the shirts) for the outer wider border.
The fact that you question your choice tells me you may think it is too dark. It looks rather masculine. If it were for a younger person under the age of 30, I'd use a brighter, lighter color. If your niece is older she might like the darker more sofistacated look. The quit itself is quite nice but I'm not a fan of black/dark borders personally.
Looks good. The colors of the border add just the right amount to bring out the colors of the shirts.

I would leave it, and either use the batik for the binding, or if you want to brighten it up, audition some brights! Really cute T-shirt quilt top, I like it!
It's perfect!
I like it just as it is, the T-shirts are more than bright enough to make it look great!
Oh, you've done a wonderful job on the quilt! I would leave as is, and as suggested by other posters, audition a colorful binding.
