I've made both these bags (I didn't do any printing on the first one like they did), both have square bottoms, the lst one is pretty big.

The tote bags I use for groceries have a plastic in the bottom that help to support the bottom of the bag. You can get the plastic cutting boards and cut to size for the bottom. I have bought them before at a dollar store 2 for $1.00.

There was one on the Missouri Quilt Co. just the other day. Does not have to be patched, but I thought the instructions were good and made one for a granddaughter. Easy.

I tried finding the video for Missouri tote but went as far back as 3 years & couldn't find it.

Best one I have made (12) is from Quilts Illistrated segigned by Penny Stuges - Garden Party ps028 and her purse is great also - Mini Bow Tucks ps026. Hope you make these.

You should watch the YouTube video by Debbie Shore who does a lined tote bag. Clear and easy, you can make it any size you want. I have heard of the suggestion for using the plastic grids from craft stores and I think that's probably the best for the bottom of you bag. The other suggestion is to cut up old plastic cutting sheets...they are about $1.25 each and can be cut in half lengthwise.
