Tracing/Light Box

I have been wanting a light box for a long time. They just always seemed too expensive for the amount of time that I would really use. DH even thought about building me one. Now I have one. And I only paid $10 for it!!!!!

While I was out Christmas shopping and looking for the Crayola Studios, I found this -

but I found it at Big Lots and only paid $10. I brought it home and tried it out and it is wonderful. I finished tracing all of the patterns for the embroidered quilt blocks that I have been wanting to make forever.

Neat, my hubby built me one out of some old wooden trim and a picture frame that fits snug on the top of the box then got me one of the little lights from home depot that really gives off enough light to be able to trace easily. Love it and it was only the cost of the light because he had some baseboard or molding in the garage and i had a picture frame. It is a 12 x 14 frame.

A light box is one of those tools that you don't use it a lot but when you need it nothing else will do.

That is so cool! I've been wanting one for a long time, too. Thanks for the tip!

I have a glass coffee table with a bottom shelf,..just put a lamp under without the shade..works great and don't have to figure out storage for another quilting notion..gives a big area for tracing..just another idea.

I bought my light box with my 40% off coupon from Hobby Lobby... I think I paid about $12 for mine and dd's.
I love mine!

I have a huge old homemade HEAVY one now, but before that I just used the window, or if it was at night when I wanted to trace.... I just stood inside the shower stall & taped it to the glass door.... where there's a will there's a way! :)

I found one a WalMart for $10. But I need to know the screen size. Could you give the size? Thanks

I got a piece of plexiglass, 18"x24", at Home Depot. I put two plastic shoeboxes on my cutting table, the plexiglass on top and one of the folding Ott lights (unfolded) underneath. It works well for me and is at a good height.
