Hello all. I saw in a thread earlier today where someone was posting all the fabric and projects they had going on. I didn't think it was appropriate for me to post pictures of what I have done so far. The pictures show just two shelves. I'm not showing lower than those because, well, you can't walk in much less find the floor. The clear plastic boxes on the top shelf are 13 gallon tubs and I have a total of 35 of them full of fabric. Then I have 42 20 gallon tubs (the ones that take two people to carry empty) full of fabric that is in the garage right now because I don't have room to go through them right now. The small cubes are 8 x 12 inches and there are three others behind each one.

Wow! Now that is quite an organized stash! Wanna share???? I am new to this and am slowly building my stash!

new2quilt 01-12-2011 04:43 PM

Great job. Nice to know we share the struggle to roganize and end up with large quantities of material.
You encourage me.
Chris

Mariposa 01-12-2011 04:46 PM

Wow! And I thought I had lots of fabric! Whew! You go girl!!

frugalfabrics 01-12-2011 04:47 PM

Ok, now I don't feel so bad, if I take a little more of my grandma's fabric home with me.

this is a competition, right!?

ginnie6 01-12-2011 04:56 PM

wow! you know I get to looking at my small stash and thinking ..."not too bad" and then I see some like this! wow! now that is a stash!

luvTooQuilt 01-12-2011 05:03 PM

Wow.. Id love to sift thru your stash!!!

quiltlonger 01-12-2011 05:09 PM

I have that same feeling when I see some one BIGGER/Wider than me I say "SEE I'M NOT FAT" and hubby will pick out THREE people smaller and say "WHAT" actually it's a running joke if only I could run!! Now I can say.. SEE, HER STASH IS BIGGER than MINE!!

nellebelles 01-12-2011 05:21 PM

I wish mine was organized as nicely as yours. :D

Tsanchez 01-12-2011 05:28 PM

Sure, why not. lol I've been collecting for years. I have a mixture of types of fabrics.

Tsanchez 01-12-2011 05:32 PM

This took me several months just to get this far. The floor is terrible. Every time I think I'm getting ahead with getting my craft room organized, I end up moving more in just to have to start all over again.

Lakeview Quilting 01-12-2011 05:44 PM

Wow, it looks awesome. You have a ton of fabrics and supplies.

dkabasketlady 01-12-2011 07:17 PM

I want to be your BEST friend so that I can go shopping from your STASH!!!!

Marye 01-12-2011 07:26 PM

Hope you have insurance on your room.

featherweight 01-12-2011 07:52 PM

Wow, You sure won't have to worry about a cotton price increase. Enjoy and have fun organizing...

Shelbie 01-12-2011 08:00 PM

You won't want to hear this but you probably have more fabric than you will ever use. It's not about being organized, your fabric looks great in those bins! It's just that there is so much that it must be a little overwhelming. Perhaps it is time to share with some quilting buddies or your local guild or church. I can tell just by looking at your fabric that there are endless quilts there just waiting to be stitched. I think you would make a wonderful Stashbuster member (another Yahoo group that believes in using your stash and sharing fabric with others). Happy stitching.

BETTY62 01-12-2011 08:03 PM

Wow. I can only dream.

hperttula123 01-12-2011 08:18 PM

I just love hearing that someone else has lots of fabric too and I'm not the only one.  Hope your still giving your self some time to sew in between organizing.
Maybe you could get a helper. My oldest daughter is my helper. She is such a good organizer and she helps me. It's good for me to have someone else there to keep me moving at a good pace. :)

jeanneb52 01-13-2011 02:46 AM

Viva la stash. Isn't it heavenly to have it? Like one's own LQS.

DonnaB 01-13-2011 06:04 AM

That is cool, you can see everything you have.

adrianlee 01-13-2011 09:23 AM

Love the way you got your shelves. Wish my stash was all nice and organized. I start out sorting the colors and then next thing I'm sewing on a project.

stpatmom 01-13-2011 09:30 AM

I thought stashes like that only existed in fairy tales!

JUNEC 01-13-2011 10:11 AM

Wow - I am in awe - to have a place for everything and everything in it's place - To be able to sew and not spend half your time looking for something that you have no idea where it is would be fabulous.

the good news is you can have one heck of a yard sale for your retirement with the way fabric prices are going up!
(someday I mean,...when your ready....Does someday ever come?)

Tsanchez 01-13-2011 11:28 AM

Actually I do have separate insurance on my sewing machine and (I forgot what they call it) all of my crafting supplies. I also make jewelry so I have a cabinet full of gemstones, glass beads, and sterling silver. Then I have supplies for stained glass, both painted and the real stained glass. Then I have my leather tools and leather. Also cross stitch supplies (including patterns) and mosaic supplies. So when I finally get my craft room together I will be able to work on different crafts and will be organized. We have an extra $75,000 insurance dedicated to my craft stuff. (This doesn't include the building I have out in the back yard that I haven't put anything in. This will be covered under our home owner's policy).

Sharonsews 01-13-2011 12:37 PM

WOw! I hope to find enough energy to organize my stash. Yours looks nice!

Tsanchez 01-13-2011 12:47 PM

Thank you. I have just gotten started (actually back in November). I can only do a little bit at a time. When I get it all organized, I will post more pictures.

auntiehenno 01-13-2011 04:34 PM

We just sold our house and need to be out by the end of March, luckily, I have live in help (living overseas has it's perks) and they are neatly folding and sorting all my stash.I had over 12 large bins and 8 smaller ones and it is slowly getting done.

gramquilter2 01-13-2011 04:59 PM

Now that's a stash!

Tsanchez 01-13-2011 06:09 PM

Thank you Auntiehenno. I will do that. I worked in there for a couple of hours this afternoon. Stil looks like I haven't done a thing yet. Our house is pretty small so I have to find a way to get it to where I can work in there.

garysgal 01-13-2011 06:27 PM

Wow! now I don't feel guilty about the sewing room pictures I posted! You sew girl!!

VIVA!

Annz 01-13-2011 06:54 PM

Wow!! for a minute there I thought I was in a fabric store.

Tsanchez 01-13-2011 09:09 PM

What's pictures isn't even 1/10 of what I have. Not all quilting fabric. Now that I am on a fixed income, I can't go and buy fabric so I'm glad I now have this. I bought most of this from my local quilt shop. Every Saturday Mike, one of the owners, gets blind folded and he goes around the shop and picks 13 bolts of fabric. They are then 30% off until the following Saturday when he does it all over again.
