We have several long armers in our guild and they bring in batting scraps by the bag full for anyone to use. Their scraps are sometimes big enough for baby quilts. None of them keeps the scraps, say they will be overwhelmed with batting if they did. If you can find a long armer close by maybe you could buy her batting scraps very cheap to save from having to buy new for every quilt.

I save all my scraps and some are given to me I butt them and zig zag together I make a lot of small bags, coasters, potholders etc with the scraps. I also use them to make portable ironing mats for my quilting friends!
