If you don't sleep in there much anyway what difference does it make. Do what makes you happy.

I would do whatever allows you to put all your quilting things into one room.
Your sewing machines and fabric really need to be together in one room. Except maybe your longarm, since its hard to move. Hope you have someone to help you move things around. No reason a master bedroom can't be a master sewing room. |
I live in a 5 bedroom house also...with my husband and teenaged son. I have thought if I ever live here alone, the master would be my sewing studio. I could fit my long arm AND my sewing machine in there. I say go for it! And happy rearranging!

I say, "GO FOR IT!" You will enjoy quilting a whole lot more when you have room to get around your quilt machine.
When we looked at the house we bought last year, that is the first things my husband said, "You can have the master bedroom for your sewing and that will also give you your own bathroom." So my husband and I have our bedroom in the other bedroom downstairs and our boys have the two upstairs bedrooms. It has worked our perfectly. Angie |
I live in every inch of my house. My sewing room is my dinning room and great room, I enjoy the view and so I sew.

Why not? There is nothing saying that the master bedroom has to be the biggest one. If that works for you , than just go for it.

Dearie, it sounds like you have a plan and just need us to say, give it a try. It is your house and your space. Use it as you wish. Why make your life cumbersome and awkward when you have such a spacious option? (This is a lesson I have learned over time.) Gather help and make the move. Don't like it in a couple of months, then make adjustments. Enjoy! and let us know how this all works out.

I've already done that and I love having the larger space. I would suggest that you have a bed to sleep on because the older you get, the more you will need a true night's sleep. Best wishes with whatever you decide.

Would it be ridiculous to use the master bedroom for the long arm and sewing tables? I could still keep the fabric organized in the other room and make the 4th one my bedroom. I know that no one else really has any say in it and I can do whatever I want, it's my house. It just feels a little weird to do that. |
You are right it is your house and you can do what you want with it. I personally would have no problem using my MBR for a sewing room.
