Twas the Night Before Christmas Quilt top- Not Happy

I started this quilt as soon as I purchased that pattern years ago and has been sitting, well I've been trying to put all my UFO's together and this one has been the most disappointing to me. It is whet it is but not really happy with it. I didn't like the pinwheel center and always loved this fabric and wanted to use for center, but don't have enough for the boarders so not sure what I'll do yet. Appreciate and help or ideals. Thanks in advance.

I think it will be really eye-catching with some quilting in Red Thread. It seems like a good start and not much more to do to it, and it will be really pretty.
Don't feel bad about starting something and being disappointed in it. I started a Christmas Quilt 4 yrs. ago and can't get back to it. Mine is built around The Christmas Story and could be finished in a week of diligent work n the afternoons, but can't get motivated to do it. Am hoping after Christmas I can be motivated to do it!
Good luck! Mariah

Thank you, guess I just didn't like the slant on the bottom, it was really tough to put together. I'm gonna add another tree in the bottom corner to make it look more fuller as well. I have this fabric for a border but not sure it would look good?

Yes adding the tree would be good. That border fabric would look nice, I think. Just finish it up and move on. At least then it will be done.

You do great, don't get discouraged. Don't judge the quilt until it's done. I like your suggestion with the tree and really like the other fabric too.

Keep on working on it, before you know it's done and looking gorgeous. The slant will give it a nice appearance to it, something interesting, especially good for the scene. I love it and want to see more of your creativity.

Don't worry, believe in yourself!

I think it will be just fine!!!!

I think you need a red that will match the color in the fabric, maybe burgundy, between the center and the border. I really think that other fabric is too busy to make a good add on. You could put a 1 to 11/2 " border on the inner one, and then add a wider (same color) after the redwork fabric.

Personally I would look for a border in a more pale colour wave. The one you have will distract from the gorgeous centre you have done.

My eyes wanted a solid red boarder between the center fabric and the redwork fabric, like say 1 inch. I wouldnt take it apart, just stitch it down on top. (try or use wright"s 1 inch single fold bias tape in red to showcase the concept )

iPad the same thoughts as Jane Quilter. Sorta of! Red sashing between the blocks would help to highlight the different panels. Sewing over already present seams is brilliant.
