I did this on a twin size quilt. The quilt is heavier, but not stiff. I did SID using a Brother Sq9050 with no problems. I used Elmer's.
Suggestion- Remember the binding needs to be 1" to 1 1/2" bigger because of the thickness of the sandwich.

I see no problems other than getting it out of the washer. My big single layer quilts weigh a ton when wet. If you can do that (or someone can), I'd say have at it!

I sometimes ask for double layer of cotton batting when I use a long armer.

I always use 1 layer of Warm and Natural but I wanted a warmer quilt, and my LA'er suggested a layer of wool on the top. I am going to try this next. We both try to use very little heat in the winter.

When I want a warmer quilt than just one layer of Warm and Natural I use one layer Warm and Natural and one layer of Poly. When making my selection the layer that has the closest quilting requirements is the one that should be followed< that aspect always narrows my selection for the second layer

I can not imagine needing one with two layers. Our bedroom the register is closed off in our room, and our thermometer says 58 (unless we get the real chill factor days, then it is 56) and the quilt we have on our bed is just 5 in charms sewed in rows with poly batting and flannel backing, then we have a very light weight summer store bought blanket. We are never cold at night. I made one for my brother and wife for their camper, and they both said they are never cold anymore in their camper.. and we never use heat..and it gets down to the upper 40's sometimes.. we camp in Wisconsin until the last weekend in Oct..and we start the first weekend of May.. well until this year.. we have way to much snow to get to the camper yet... :(
