Two layers of warm & natural?
 

I have lots of warm & natural batting but want something thicker for a quilt I am making. Can I put two layers together? I would probably use 505 spray. Would it quilt ok?

I wouldn't. The resulting quilt will be not just thick, but very heavy and possibly stiff. Some people layer Hobbs Polydown on top of Warm and Natural to get more loft. That is for longarm quilting. If you are quilting on a domestic sewing machine, I imagine it would be extremely difficult to get either of the options I mentioned under the arm of the machine.

My thought when I read your title was, "I wouldn't be able to lift the quilt". It would be heavy and stiff.

I recently quilted 2 quilts for a customer who asked for one layer of warm and natural and one layer of poly batting for each quilt. They were heavy but they looked nice when they were done. I didn't over quilt it to make them stiff. I don't use a spray adhesive with the long arm.

We live in the Norh east and one layer is plently...you could do it, but no need for warmth and it would be heavy.

I love working with Warm and Natural.... BUT.... sometimes I miss the LOFT of the polyester batts we used to use. A few friends have been using the new wool batts.... I have seen their quilts which have been professionally quilted on a long arm... they're okay.... but.... not spectacular... nor cuddly..... I don't know the answer but for myself I love a soft cuddly quilt, and so many people choose to use quilting patterns that stiffen or flatten their quilts. I guess it's like everything.... try it.... and if you like it...great.... if you don't like it......cross it off the list.

I double my layers of warm and natural all the time. Just do not do heavy quilting. A medium stipple works fine...not to heavy and not stiff.

If the quilt is very big, I would think the weight would be extreme with 2 layers of W and N.

If it's warmth you are after, have you considered a wool batt?
