Nobody has mentioned Janome. I think it is the best made, from cheapest to most expensive. I have had Wards, Kenmore, Bernina and Janome. I would rather sew on either of my two Janomes than my 4 month old Bernina. Well no Janome on page 1 anyway.

In order of purchase: Domestic (made by White) 1967,Brother PE100, Babylock Ellageo, Brother Innovis 4000D, Brother PR600II, Singer 301, 99, 221, and 337. I also have a blind hemmer, Babylock Imagine serger, and a Gammill Premier. I LOVE sewing!
|
I love my Bernina 440.
|
my favorite is my 24 year old New Home sewing machine and I have a small Janome for when I use the fancy stitches it has that isn't on the New Home. It is all metal also so it is sturdy. Now a days seems they are all plastic. don't know how odd it is but I prefer the older macnines instead of digital any day.

I have a 870 Viking Sapphire Quilt. Do you have trouble with your bobbin and thread?
|
I use a Singer 5830C and also have a Pfaff Serger. I'm not impressed with the Singer and want to get a new machine when the budget allows. It was great reading how many of you are in love with your machines.
|
A Bernina Artista-not the embroidery model, and a Baby Lock SYmphony. I love them both.

The Necchi Logica is going to my Daughter -n- law and the last few years I have given a machine away to a village in Mexico. But Love all the Vikings I have had through the last 20+ years... 7 all total. and 2 sergers |
I have a singer FW, a Viking and most recently a Bernina 830. Love each of them for different reasons.
|
I have not seen anyone with a Viking Ruby yet - unless I missed it, LOL. A lady in our Quilting group has bought one and I wondered what anyone thinks about it, as it seemed so expensive ?
|
My old 1961 Singer is still humming along. Could say that I'm still in love with it. She sits in my grandmother's antique, 3 drawer singer cabinet.

I have 2 older Sears Kenmore machines when first started to create sewing projects: A super high shank machine 158-17032, then I purchased 2nd hand yet never used 148-15600, a nice quality low shank machine. Then, in late Oct for my birthday I purchased my newest Brother 950D embroidery sewing machine. It also uses low shank and ankle style presser feet, even my older walking foot fits. The Brother machine has tons of quality features I never knew existed. Its a super wonderful machine with all its bells and whistles and a large set of built in stitching and sewing styles and even has 6 full built in sets of alphabets to personalize anything, as long as you can get it under the presser foot and not break your needle. I would highly recommend any of the Brother Inno-vis style machines. |
Janome 1600 DBX, love it, Bernina, Virtuoso 160, which I would like to sell, 47 year old Model 600 Singer Slantomaatic, that I still use for teaching my young girls beginning sewing and quilting, and a little Schoolastic Singer bought off of a truck one year at Hancocks. It was a workhorse for some multiple layer sewing for my window treatment business. Also use for my sewing classes. I am now prepared to purchase a new Janome for quilting and zizzag and other stitch patterns. Using my Janome 1600 DBX
has shown me what a fast powerhouse the Janome is for quiltig. It was great for my busines, too. |
I have one brother and one babylock sewing machine, and love both
