This is not Wal-Mart fabrics, and the "good" quilting fabrics have gone up in price. And getting that fabric up to Al. cost a lot more than it shipping to the regular states. I went to the site, beautiful fabrics, and if there were something I liked and couldn't find around me here in Ca., I would order it(and I probably will find something). Good fabrics and good thread, equal a good quality quilt, I have seen a lot of "junk" ones that the fabric came from WM and Jo Ann's, if you are going to quilt, use good stuff, otherwise, it shows it.

We went on the Alaska cruise a couple of years ago. You are right it was wonderful and the quilt shop was a nice bonus!

I took a cruise last year and ended up purchasing 3 "bear" kits. A year later, I am asking myself, what am I going to do with 3 bears, I am sure my family will take them off my hands once I complete them. I loved the shops.

their fabrics are high quality and not real pricey (1/2 yd for $5.25-$5.50) and they have some unusual kits as well. They ship USPS - what a great surprise I came home to !

I am so glad to hear this! We are leaving next week for an Alaskan cruise and I had already scoped out all of the quilt shops. This one is one my list!! I'm glad they will ship it home because I was trying to figure out whether to take an extra suitcase!

Me too. We went in 2005 and loved it. I hope I can do it again someday.

Sounds like the kind of trip you don't mind ending when you have all that neat fabric and "stuff" waiting at home

Not just in Skagway - almost all Alaskan towns we visited had exquisite quilt shops - the best batik selection I have ever seen-I really added to my stash - even though we travelled in a teeny 19' motorhome! Fabric was 'stashed' everywhere. I think the long winters in Alaska must inspire quilters, but I loved it!
