It sounds to me like you put one heck of a lot of work into it. From where I'm sitting Grandpa paid the right price.Congrats for finally getting it. And you know, if you were a guy, you wouldn't have had a guilt trip. Men always see their work as worth more, and so does society.

simple but awesome ....... you do realize what embroidery shops charge, the few that will set up a one time design

and you made a grandpa very happy

Be thankful. Most people do not want to pay for your time, just the materials. I have to say, he was thankful that you made a beautiful quilt and he wanted to thank you in his way. He does not quilt, and he know your talents show that you love to quilt. When I make a quilt for someone, I give an estiment, and when they pick up the quilt, some of them make me feel like I am short changing them. I usually take the cost of the materials and double for the cost of my time. Put the extra aside and when someone shorts your time, remember your very thankful customer.

FINALLY someone who knows the value of a handmade quilt. I agree with your husband, thank the gentleman graciously.

Very nice quilt. I don't believe you were overpaid. You purchased the materials and it was your time that created it. In addition, it was your machine, the price you paid for it and the upkeep. I don't see my stitching as a hobby the way some people do- it's work. It's work that I enjoy but nevertheless, it's work. Nobody considers my husband's sawmill work a hobby even though he loves it.

Someone mentioned a thank you note and that sounds great. I think it's a wonderful way to keep in contact with your customers. I'm glad to read that you are going to enjoy the money you made on the project. Have fun!

You go girl...it's about time that someone paid what it is worth. Enjoy your money. Buy something you thought you couldn't afford

If he's happy, then you be happy! It sounds like his way of thanking you to me. So, I would just thank him right back and everyone wins!

Apparently he did not think he overpaid you and you should be honored that he puts such value on your work.
