I agree with your husband. You were paid a fair price for the quilt and you should be pleased that Grandpa appreciated the work that you had done and it was worth it to him. I know we all are sometimes guilty about under-valuing what we do, but I'm pleased that Grandpa understood.

Grandpa is a maintenance man. He does appreciate craftsmen of all types. Super nice guy that loves his family. He told me from the beginning "money is no object". I told him I knew that. I am grateful he considered my efforts part of that view.

Like he said, he is happy, his daughter is happy and I am happy. That is how it should be. So, I shut my mouth, grinned and then thanked him.

BTW, I already occasionally bake for him and the other maintenance guys.

I think the quilt looks wonderful and it is nice that someone appreciates the work we put into our quilts rather it be simple or complex.

Did you consider that rush jobs on most anything cost double? Getting something personalized, one of a kind and good quality in a hurry is nearly impossible! You are worth it!! I'm sure your quality was excellent!! Send a thankyou note or card and you might start a scrap box for a future I spy or other childrens pattern.
If you still feel guilty donate some of the money to a local Food Bank or other charity.

Accept it and remember not everyone quilts or wants to and are more than happy to get top quality work. You did a very nice job and a special gift for a special girl. You may think it is simple I think it is absolutely precious.

I did a similar quilt, actually 2 of them. They weren't very large at all. Not my best FMQ either And the fussing some made over them was just weird I thought. I guess what I'm trying to say is that sometimes we may not see the beauty in what we do right away, for what ever reason. I think he saw the beauty and the love that went into what you had created and paid you for it. Take a bow, a job well done.
