I've seen a video of a quilt pulling apart easily after being joined for years /months. It was a demo of making a sandwich using 505 which showed unpeeling. I think I would make a new quilt and leave that one as is , especially if you have quilted it.

Thank you for all of your suggestions. It has given me a lot to think about.

If all your trying to do is make the quilt larger, why take it out? Why not just add some quilted borders using the quilt as you go method?

The basting spray should let loose easily, you can always give it a light spritz with water ( basting spray washes away) to help if needed.

If the finished quilt was ever washed, there should be no basting spray left, but if it has not been washed, then this method should work, just remember to let the pieces dry before doing anymore work on it.

Several people here have added to the dimensions of an already made quilt, using quilt as you do techniques.

My thoughts too.
