I have told my family when my time on earth is done, bury me with one of my quilts and give the rest to my good friends, don't have any siblings to give to and daughters have enough of my quilts.

A very nice idea to honor her passion. Thanks for sharing.

We just buried my husband's sister in Indiana and her daughter had tons of her quilted beauties and crochet covers around the room. Nice!

Interesting that I should find a post on this topic. I have only been to 2 funerals where they showed their quilts....and I loved it. I DON'T like those pictures boards or the videos they show....so...I have told friends and family that I wanted NO pictures, but you can drape my quilts around.... I especially like the post that said they draped them over the pews. I have also on my list of things to do...is make a casket quilt....that shows things about me...and tells the story of my life more than pictures would....and then I hope my daughter will keep that quilt. Who knows...I might publish a pattern for it. Hope nobody beats me to it. Happy New Year !

My Mom passed away in 2006. I took her quilt she made my hubby and I. Also took the first quilt she made. They were viewed with the love that my Mom had for us. Didn't think to ask my brother to bring his or the one she hand embroideried for my neice. But I had her first and last one there for all to see.

When I began this post I did so because I wanted to share the story of my friend's family's love for her and her craft. I didn't realize it would open up a well of tender remembrances of other loved one's sharing quilting at a loved one's passing. Thanks all for posting. And yes, I love the thought of being laid to rest in a gown and a warm quilt.
