Upsize 12" Block
I have downloaded a 12"block from the net and want to use it as a center for a medallion quilt.
I want to resize the block to a 26-inch block, but my maths-gene is almost non-existent.....🤔🤔🤔🤔 Would anyone be willing to resize the block for me? Pretty please?🕊💕💕💕 It is a PDF file. |

Doubling to a 24 inch block and then adding a 2 inch sash would be more practical.

very pretty pattern!

I agree with Deb. Doubling the size of everything to make a 24 inch finished block is easiest. Then you can make your borders any size necessary to fit with the next round of blocks. Thanks for the link.

What a pretty block! I see why you want to feature it as the center medallion of a quilt. Please post your finish or at least progress. It will encourage all of us.

If you make a 24 inch block you would need to add 1 inch sash on all sides to get it to 26.

Such a gorgeous block. I'd love to have a entire quilt made of this block...I have enough reds to make each one different. Just have to find the time! Thanks for posting...another one on my bucket list!

My only suggestion is that if you double the size of the block, including the appliqué cherries, you may need to change both the stems and how the cherries are sewn on. For the stems, instead of using a stem stitch, I would appliqué on narrow bias stems. The stem stitch is likely too narrow to visually support the larger cherries and leaves. For the cherries, I would use a blanket stitch around the edges in addition to (or instead of) the centered star stitch.
It’s a lovely block and should make a great medallion. |
