SWEETPEACHES 05-19-2012 02:18 PM

It used to hurt my feelings

when I would post a picture and a billion people would look at it, but only 20 would reply. I presumed that meant only 20 liked it. Until I realized I do the same thing sometimes. I always ohhh and ahhhhh but don't always comment in writing especially if many many others have.

moonwork42029 05-19-2012 02:21 PM

I'm guilty...yes I am...after 3 pages of "oh that's nice" I don't feel mine will have much weight so I just look and go to another.

crafty3236 05-19-2012 02:26 PM

me2 guilty as charged lol

Neesie 05-19-2012 02:32 PM

::::: raising hand :::::: Sometimes I'm checking the posts, in a hurry, and don't stop to comment. :-\ Also, I don't always check the posts, past the first 3 or 4 pages, if I'm in a hurry.

ckcowl 05-19-2012 02:36 PM

i think we all do that- after all- how many times can Wow! beautiful be used before it just becomes....old?
knowing that you had that many views speaks for itself!

barri1 05-19-2012 02:37 PM

I agree with Neesie.. Usually I'm in a rush, and love to see the talent on the board.. I'm totally amazed with it.. There are some that I don't like, but not because of the quality, or talent, but we all have our preferences.. I'm sure that if some of you would see my work, your hair would stand up in fright.. Yup.. I'll get over it, as Im having fun!!!!

BeckyPotter 05-19-2012 02:41 PM

I love your avatar photo. Nice bag... LOl

BeckyPotter 05-19-2012 02:43 PM

I couldn't find this one on your FB Page. Love Love these colors.

Tartan 05-19-2012 03:09 PM

I always value the people who view my posts just like those who leave a comment. People have busy lives and as others have said, sometimes you don't have anything to add.

CAJAMK 05-19-2012 03:41 PM

Yes, I think we all feel that after so many compliments that it sometimes feels like no one else will read it.

BellaBoo 05-19-2012 03:47 PM

You can see the amount of views your picture receives. I tend to thing the views are all positive with a few yuks thrown in.

Phannie1 05-19-2012 03:55 PM

I look alot but it depends on my mood if I type any comments. I really have not found a quilt I haven't like. Some colors I would question but as my momma says., "If you don't have something nice to say, do not say anything at all."

Neesie 05-19-2012 03:58 PM

I'm seriously in awe, of ANY finished quilt . . . as I am soooooooo slow! :)

OCquilter 05-19-2012 04:00 PM

Maybe we need "like" buttons and a running total of how many checked it. LOL

Scissor Queen 05-19-2012 04:08 PM

I don't post most of the time because I don't want all the emails saying "nice" or "beautiful" etc.

virtualbernie 05-19-2012 04:09 PM

I'm guilty of it too. If I'm not one of the first 2 or 3, I don't post a comment because I know someone else made the same comment I would have and usually in better words. And now since you have to type at least 10 characters, I can't even post a thumbs up!

I think that this would be good also.

katier825 05-19-2012 04:39 PM

For me, mostly it's because I'm looking at them from my phone, and it's sometimes a pain to respond from there. Doesn't mean I don't love them though!

As for the 10 characters, I just add a bunch of !!!!!!!! LOL

dsmith 05-19-2012 04:46 PM

Me too. I have dial up so I mostly just lurk. But sure do like to see all the pictures.

beatys9 05-19-2012 04:47 PM

I do the same thing - I read through all the comments & if someone has already used the same sentiment I would have expressed, I just don't write most of the time...

YukonViv 05-19-2012 04:49 PM

I'm basically a quiet person, I like to sit and watch...and smile and nod when I see something I like. Unfortunately my smiles don't translate well online LOL...when I look at things and they make me smile or bring me joy...I don't necessarily comment so...it's a moment in time and the post made me feel good, and then I move on. Does not diminish the person's work in any way if I don't comment.

When something has particularly moved me, I have sometimes PM'd or emailed the person directly, because I don't wish to "share"...I guess that says alot about my private side.

On the other hand, when I post something I do like hearing that others like it!!!! :)

If you type a period then the thumbs up icon it will post without out the 10 characters.

xsquilter 05-19-2012 05:19 PM

Oh, glad you brought this up sweetpeaches....Like many here, I love all the quilts & such that I see. There's such a vast variety, abundance of inspiration, that you might be typing forever! I too don't post to everything, but I sure look at it all!
Maureen

Teddybear Lady 05-19-2012 05:20 PM

. Thanks for the tip!

Teddybear Lady 05-19-2012 05:24 PM

I too do a lot of "looking" without posting. After reading so many, "wow's", "great job", "beautiful", "nice work"...I don't know what to say. I'm amazed at the work posted on here. My confidence gets built up when I see all the patterns. I get off here and head to my sewing room and start working on some of those projects laying around. I'm so thankful I found this board. I'm always saying..."my friends on the quilting board...". haha

MaryMo 05-19-2012 05:24 PM

I wish there was a "me too" tag on responses so that I wouldn't have to say the same thing many before me have said. I want the poster of pictures to know I applaud their work but don't want to add to 2 or 3 pages of the same comments. I'm glad you posted this.

RkayD 05-19-2012 05:32 PM

I love reading the replies..but how many times do you "really" want to read ditto?? =) although...I don't always read what others post until after I post. And if my opinion ends up mirroring someone else's then all I can say is~Great Mind's Think Alike. =)

burchquilts 05-19-2012 05:38 PM

I think a "like" button would be cool, too.
You know me... I pretty much always comment because I can't keep my mouth shut... LOL! When I have a picture & there aren't as many comments as you' d like, I just figure lots of people are lurkers.

twinkie 05-20-2012 03:01 AM

I used to be offended because it seemed that some members, no matter how many threads they posted, they were always put on the front page. Now I just take it however it is posted. If I start a thread and some post on it I think , "that's nice" and go on. If they don't, I just guess they have different interests and likes than mine.

ranbro 05-20-2012 03:35 AM

Sorry to say that I do the same.

luci4 05-20-2012 03:58 AM

I, too, am guilty of doing that. Because I don't comment doesn't mean the quilt isn't beautiful.

I have thought this more than once. We definitely should have LIKE buttons for those of us in a hurry.

dslone 05-20-2012 04:06 AM

I will tell you now I'm a Looker I don't post very often so I'm sorry.

coopah 05-20-2012 04:17 AM

Guilty as charged. Especially when each reply generates the thread with updates the next day, and the next, and until I unsubscribe to the thread. All that takes time and I'm on here over an hour...so try to minimize any additional threads. Sorry!

kuntryquilter 05-20-2012 04:29 AM

I think we are all guilty of doing that.

Latrinka 05-20-2012 04:32 AM

Yea, me too, but I do the same thing.

Caswews 05-20-2012 04:43 AM

Life does happen and sometimes one has to take things with a grain of salt -and ejoy how many do look at the posts .. I look but don't always reply. Sometimes I feel the subject is just that and don't want to reply(controversial and enough has been said already), but when I look at pictures I always try to post something if I have the time, as I am usually on the run (especially to work !LOL)

margaret53 05-20-2012 04:48 AM

I am guilty, too. So sorry:(
