Using the "bisé-tongue" when binding

I just tried to use the "bisé-tongue" when binding. Has anyone tried that? It might be a very well known trick but I was a bit happy because I just thought of it myself. It kept my machine stitched binding at a constant small distance from the backside binding edge.

ps. "bisé-tounge" is what is a direct translation. I have no idea what it is called in English. If I'm totally off please help me out. :o

Could you post a picture so we can see what you're talking about? I am intrigued!Maybe it is the stitch in the ditch foot?

No, it's not a presser foot. I would normally use it just in front of the foot to produce small pleats with a twin needle. Lets see if I can attach a picture.

It's normally attached to the needle-plate (?) and look a bit different depending on what brand of machine you have.

well that's cute, can't say I've ever heard of that though.

I am guessing Bernina would have something like this but I have no idea what it's called in English to try to find it.

Okay so now can you post a picture of how you use it when sewing the binding on? I'm intrigued! :)

I'm sorry, it's just about bedtime here in Sweden and I'm going for a business trip and won't be back for a couple of days.

I can try to make another crack at it with words:
Just keep in mind that I haven't made that many quilts in my life and I assume (witch you know why you shouldn't do) that the way I do things might not be the only way to do things.
First I stitched the binding on the wrong side of the quilt as you normally would do (I guess). When I'm folding over to stitch the top-side of the quilt, finishing off the binding, I use the guide to steer along the folded edge of the binding on the underside of the quilt. Giving a small but constant distance to it. I guess anyone who is skilled at this can do it by hand, but for me it was a useful little help. I think it made the backside a bit neater.
