I've been using it inside baby quilts for batting, it makes a very sturdy quilt. And it does not require as much quilting. I enjoy the softness of it, plus it's cheaper for me than poly batting.

I don't like poly batting so I use flannel or all cotton batting. I use a double layer of flannel for some of the baby quilts and some of the larger quilts. I even buy flannel sheets at the second hand stores to use in lap quilts and some of the bigger quilts. It's wonderful for us southerners.

Using flannel is a great idea. I remember not too long ago that the Warm 'N Natural batting was affordable. It's now $10.99 a yard and even with a 40% off coupon, it can get very pricey if you have a queen or king size quilt. I will try flannel on my next project.

I love the whole darn thing. One of the icest table covers/toppers I have seen in some time.

Flannel makes a great batting. I also like it for backing.

flannel would be awesome as batting. Just wash it first.

Can you wash it in tap water and dry in the dryer to get the shrinking over? Or do you have to use hot water?

I think it is best to use hot water and a hot dryer for maximum shrinkage.

Never though to use it instead of batting, great idea. Batting sure has gotten expensive!

Flannel is great! Use it for table toppers and runners and get not-to-much fluff. An excellent purchase with a 40% off coupon for Jo-Ann's. Get a nice supply to keep on hand.
