A couple weeks ago when my DDIL & I went to a "new for us LQS" my DDIL dropped a pair of these in my "to buy" stack. I still don't know why as she is not a quilter, but an enabler. Got home and forgot they were there. So since this is my day of planned mega accomplishment I decided to give these things a try on my QFK. Wow!! How much easier and faster it is. And I don't have to keep taking them off either to push buttons on the machine. My Viking Diamond has buttons for EVERYTHING, thread cutting, lock stitch, reverse, needle lift, etc. How awesome these gloves are!!! Just wanted you to know....

My hubby calls my machingers the "other" man in my life. I love them. Mine have quite a few holes in them, but they help me move those big quilts all around!

sandpat 10-17-2010 06:23 AM

Oh yes, I agree!! I love them! I even have "spare" pairs for when I am washing them. I just can't be without!

catrancher 10-17-2010 10:56 AM

Yes, I bought a pair recently too to replace my Fon & Porters, which I hate. They are great. I'm thinking of buying a spare pair too, just in case something happens to these. I love them.

I haven't heard of these. Anybody want to post a picture?

grammy Dwynn 10-17-2010 11:15 AM

Love mine! They make quilting so much easier!

Ask and you shall receive.... Mine are pink from the chalk I was using

Katia 10-17-2010 11:31 AM

I have some that I love too. They need to be washed, but I was not sure if that was something I should even do. They do help keep the quilt from slipping around.

LindaM 10-17-2010 11:33 AM

I love mine too!

karenm36 10-17-2010 11:40 AM

I love mine as well! I found that my hands were drying so much as I handled the material while quilting on the machine. The material then was sliding through my fingers and I was working awfully hard trying to manage all the fabric...which made my whole upper body tense up even more. After I started using the machingers I realized that I didn't have to work so hard to hold the fabric and so my whole body was much more relaxed as I quilted. They also help prevent body oil from being transferred to the fabric as you work...so the fabric stays cleaner as well.

I sure agree with hating the Fons & Porter. I have to keep pulling them up. There is no band on the wrist part ot keep them from slipping.

sandpat 10-17-2010 04:46 PM

For someone who asked about washing them. I wash mine frequently. I put them on, squirt some soft soap in my hands and wash away. I slip them off after rinsing my hands and hang them to dry. I use luke warm water. They have always washed up beautifully, they dry and are just like new.

jacqueck 10-18-2010 02:12 AM

I wash mine. I put them on, use a very mild soap and just 'wash my hands'. Then I dry my hands with a towel, and take the gloves off and stand them over a glass till they try. Works very well. Just be gentle as you wash.

mawmawbeve_60 10-18-2010 02:25 AM

Yes, they r great!...have a new pr and my old ones...lol

judylg 10-18-2010 02:48 AM

I like using them too, am on my third pair. Like them so well, for lots of sewing I use them, not just for quilting. Great gloves, never found another brand that works as well.

Lystra 10-18-2010 03:03 AM

Where can you get them?

quiltmaker 10-18-2010 03:15 AM

I also have two pairs and couldn't live without them. They are fabulous!

I got mine at my LQS but I think I have seen them on the internet somewhere. Try Clotilde.com or nancysnotions.com. Maybe even connecting threads.com.

applique 10-18-2010 04:20 AM

I use them for my satin stitching. They give me more control and in the winter they help keep the fingers warm!

I washed my gloves just last week. I wasn't as kind as some of the others here. I tossed them in the washer with a load of laundry and then into the dryer. They came out just fine. Need to toss the second pair into the wash this week! How do they get so dirty? I'm just playing with fabric!

That is my favorite tool for quilting. Love them. I just lightly rinse them and just lay them flat to dry. The supreme slider is something to try. What a difference it makes. Won't even try to quilt without these two items. Makes quilting so much easier to manuever.

That's a very good price. Buy them, you won't regret it. They do come in sizes tho so check that out when ordering.

Leah Day also carries them. I believe her sight is daystyledesigns.com. Her sight is so good. She has helpful videos and such for new quilters as well as those who have been quilting for a while. Great info on the sight. she also will answer questions and such. I am in no way affiliated with her, but she has helped me tremendously in my quilting.

Thanks and good Luck

Suzy

i too love my machingers. takes a lot of pressure off my shoulders when fmq. just gently glide with my fingertips now. it was a lucky day when my viking representative tossed me a pair.

desertrose 10-18-2010 12:04 PM

I had not heard of these before but what a great idea. Thank you for share this with us.

I've found a pair of textured neutral colored garden gloves last year. I don't do a lot of hand quilting but there are times I just don't want to 'fight' with the fabrics to have them line up. Some day I'll move up to the big girl gloves.

danade 10-18-2010 12:51 PM

Please, please, please, everybody--buy a pair or two of Machingers and your quilting lives will immediately become much easier! You won't believe the difference they make.

But it's best to try them on if you can find a shop that carries them near you--I have fairly large hands but wear a small in Machingers. They're sold in a ziploc bag so you can take one out and try it on gently.

Do it! Please! For me!

Thank goodness for the pic, I was wondering what this new machine was that was moving your quilts around!

The problem with garden gloves is that they would be thicker and not tactile sensitive as these are. Also the elastic in the wrist is very clingy and feels very good on my arthritic wrist. I am going to get another pair for sure, for when I lose the first pair. I'll get them when I get my 2nd can of basting spray.

suern3 10-18-2010 02:55 PM

Love them for FMQ plus the Slider that you use on the bed of the sewing machine (I can't remember the real name). Much more control and less shoulder and back pain.

Genie915 10-18-2010 03:08 PM

I have a pair of purple Grab-A-Roos that I like. They are soft & comfy & give me great flexibility of movement. Has anyone else tried these?

cjaye44 10-18-2010 03:55 PM

Love mine   I bought a second pair to keep at another sewing area.

penski 10-18-2010 04:10 PM
