I used one today for the first time while washing some new quilting fabric. It came out essentially the same color as it was when I put it in there...so none of the fabrics must have bled.
My question is... Since there is no dye on it...or if there is, it is minimal... has anyone ever reused these sheets in subsequent loads? |
I think they are made to be used over and over again.
I rip mine in half & use it once. Sounds like all your fabric was nice & colourfast. I've had my catcher come out red sometimes.
I threw on in with some jeans and a red blouse. The color catcher came out looking dark reddish/black. I didn't know what it was at first and thought "What in the heck was in someone pocket???? :?: That was one catcher that didn't get re-used. LOL!!
I reuse them when they are still white.
When you use Color Catcher is the color "set" then and you don't have to worry about the fabric bleeding at another washing?
I've reused Color Catchers. But once I put two Catchers into a wash (with a couple of newly dyed red items), one was new and the other I was reusing (for the second time only). One came out bright red-pink and the other was practically white, which made me suspect that the reused one might not be so dye-absorbent anymore...

Do you use the Shout Color Catchers?
I just purchased them but have yet to use them!
Yes, I think they're great.
I use them every time I wash a new quilt or new dark colored garment
I've been using them if I prewash fabric that's not LQS.
i have used them a couple times. have a box for when they are needed.
Absolutely, love them!!

I have been using them even in my regular laundry when I have something red that hasn't been washed several times. I did have one bad experience with them when I washed some fabrics, a black bled onto another piece. I was able to cut around it however I lost a lot of the fabric due to spots. I sure wouldn't trust them the way they are advertised on t.v. I will continue using them.
the color catchers do not set colors, they simply attract the dye in the water keeping it from getting on other fabrics. if you have something that is bleeding it is best to take it out and re-wash it until it no longer bleeds.
I use them all the time, even for regular laundry.
Every time I wash a completed quilt I use them, also when I wash my fabric's.
I use them when washing fabric for the first time. I can put lights and darks together with no worries.

Yes, I've just started using them, and I love the job they do! I prewashed some new dark fabrics and used 3 of them. The color catchers came out a grayish/mauve and the fabrics came out GREAT.
Yes!!! I throw in 3 with each new quilt I have finished. I also use them now and then with the rest of the laundry, especially if there's some new clothes or if I need to run a mixed load.
Yes I use them when washing purples, they seem to bleed, no matter where I buy the fabric. We use them for regular laundry, if washing red or black clothes, works great for us.
I have never reused them. Don't know if they will work as well a second time around.
I used a whole box on one quilt which I had to wash 4 times before the red totally came out, I put in 6 of them into the washer at a time. Who would have thought that red thread would cause such a problem. I highly recommend the product.

Love them.....
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!
I use Carbona Dye Grabber Cloths - similar product - very effective
Out of curiosity I googled Shout Color Catchers. The directions say use one time and throw away.
This is different from the one I purchased awhile back. It came one to a package and said it could be reused. |
I've reused mine only 2-3 times then pitch them, the one you can buy at Jo Ann's can be used multiple times...it is a cloth.
I do use them and they really work. You can tell when you take it out of the washer.
I use them often.
I used to use the Carbona Dye catchers, but have been using the Shout Color Catchers since they have been available here. I always use one when I prewash new fabrics and when I have dark clothing to launder. They both work great, but the Shout product is easier to find and less expensive. (The directions on the Carbona product say you can use them many times ?30? or so,but who counts!)
I love them.
Absolutely!
You bet.
I use them as well. I prewash all my quilting fabric with them before I take the fabric downstairs to my sewing room.
I will also occassionally use them in the regular laundry if washing reds or purples with lighter clothing. |
Yes! They are wonderful.
i use them, i had a finished quilt bleed and i rewashed with the color catchers and it saved my quilt. now i put 3-4 in the wash with new quilts and just amazed at the color that the sheet comes out of the wash.
