I had a 6 ft table stored in my sewing room (it is our extra dining table for family meals). I got the idea of opening it and setting it at right angle to my sewing machine and it worked so well, I wondered why I'd waited so long! Well, then, I decided to get my older sewing machines out, clean and oil them. So, then, it seemed reasonable to leave one of them up on that long table, so I did. What a joy to have my walking foot attached and ready to use. I use my Elna (newest machine) for all my straight stitching. I've never been too happy with the walking foot on it, but love the one on my Bernina (Activia 135 S), so now they are both "at my fingertip" and I love the arrangement. I just wonder why it took me 5 years to figure this arrangement out!! It is easy to let stuff pile up on the end of the long table--I have to take time out to put it away every so often.
I'll take a picture--I have a "U" shape set up--my ironing board is on my right. It is an oversized board my grandson attached to a heavy duty ironing board that raises up and down. The drawers are actually a bedside unit that I use to store my threads.

very nice! I have VERY limited space. A corner of the bedroom actually. I have just enough room for my machine, a small cutting area and an ironing board. I'm jealous of sewing rooms! and stashes......:-)

I also have 2 machines set up. I just did this a week ago - I got the other machine out because my 18 yr old daughter is learning to quilt. I will leave it out when she goes back to college and set the room up similiar to what you have done. What a great work space!

I saw a great set up using the big folding tables. Two side by side and one across each end. Looks like this: I
Lots of table room with this set up.

Great minds think alike! I bought a dining room table at a resale shop for $20 because it had a big gouge in the top surface. It came with 3 leafs and everything! Used it once for a big family dinner and then decided it was a permanant resident in my sewing room. The embroidery machine is sitting on top of my treadle cabinet right next to the big table. This way I can work on sewing items while the embroidery machine is working it's wonders.....

Wonderful space! For my "big" embroidery machine, I have an "L" shaped desk. On the short side, I store all my embroidery thread and my printer and in the corner is my serger. I then have another desk which sits in front of the "L" shaped desk which holds my computer monitor and printer. Next to this desk is my sewing table where my Aurora 440 sits. To use the ironing board or cutting table, I have to get up but then if I sit too long, I tend to stiffen up....ouch :D :D
