Vacuum attachment for cleaning machine
 

I am wanting to purchase one of those little cleaning attachments that hook on to a vacuum cleaner hose for cleaning my machine. Can anyone tell me if they work and if so, which one do you recommend? Thanks for your help.

I looked into getting one of those, and then I realized that in order to clean the sewing machine I would first have to lug the vacuum into the quilting room, plug it in, and put the attachment on it. Instead I bought a car vacuum, one with a charger that can be plugged in, and I keep it in the quilting room. For me that was much easier.

I have a small hand vac like dust buster that is electric, bought a tiny attachment set for it at hardware store. It works great for machines, is small enough to store in my sewing room so I do not have to lug out the big vac.

I bought a vac attachment kit years ago and loved it. I kept my vacuum cleaner behind my sewing machine and vacuumed my machine each time I changed the bobbin. I also vacuumed my serger each time I used it. Unfortunately, my vacuum cleaner died and I do not keep the new vac in my sewing room. I miss being able to vacuum my machines. I now clean my machines with make up brushes. They are not as good as the vac. I may have to move the new vacuum cleaner in to my sewing room.

I have one of those cheap (and useless) battery operated "sewing machine" vacuums. I tossed the motor part and connected the attachment part to the end of a hose that fits my hand held vac. I keep it in a file cabinet drawer in my sewing room. It works great. BTW, I sealed the areas that don't fit perfectly with that secret weapon called - duct tape!

I tried that and wasn't very happy. I bought a little vacuum from Nancys notions for $29. and it cleans out my machines and my computers and anything else! It is called the Mighty Vacuum. LOVE IT

I know I have 2 parts on my machine that would be sucked up by a vacuum so be careful before using it.

An inexpensive alternative is to tape a straw to the crevice tool attachment for your vacuum cleaner. I have the mini vacuum kit *somewhere* in the new house but, since I haven't found it yet, I just use the straw every once in awhile.
