Heather thank you for hosting. I was able to sew for about 4 hours and the battery went down less than 10% so I should be good in my she shed. I am tempted to sew now but the inspector will be here in about a hour and as soon as he leaves I will start the 3 1/2 hour drive home. Right now I'm watching a flotilla of geese float by the window. This place is my happy spot.
Lots of fun projects done this weekend, the dragon hoard is awesome and the porthole x-stitch is wonderful. (Are you going to make it into a pixel quilt????) Happy sewing everyone. And those who are also veterans, thank you for your service and do something fun tomorrow. |
I started making a new quilt, "Arcitc Feathers" by Elizabeth Hartman. I did a couple of things that I've never done before.
One: I made a test block. I picked out some fabrics that I kind of liked and a background fabric that is the right color, but poor quality and tested out the block pattern. I wanted to know if the colors and fabrics would work well together and also find out how the pattern instructions worked out and if I need to make any notes, or adjustments. Two: As I started cutting fabrics, I put little labels on each stack of pieces that I cut, in order to keep things more organized. For the first time, I felt joy in doing such mundane quilting tasks. I must be getting more patient and methodical in my old age. |
Heather, thanks for hosting! I again did not accomplish what I hoped this weekend ( only about halfway done quilting my baby quilt) but I enjoyed seeing/hearing about what everyone else was doing!

FINISHED! Yes, indeed with my one day extended weekend, I completed my short list of goals for the VQW. Exchange blocks bagged and ready to go and the binding on my quilt. Like others, I am sure enjoying what we are all accomplishing during our virtual retreat and focused quilting time. I am ready for next month already!
Just because I always seem to forget.......Save the date, December 12-14, 2025. Yes, that is smack in the middle of holiday prep and parties. But a little "YOU" time at the machine might refresh you as you press toward all of the other celebrations. See you there! |
