Virtual quilting weekend

My intentions kind of went out the window. My daughter called today and asked if I wanted to bake Christmas cookies with her and the Grandkids - what can I say. Tomorrow is also booked. Oh well so goes it. There is always next week and I will get my part 3 and part 4 done on BH's mystery quilt. Happy quilting everyone.

Thank you, thinking about large disappearing hour glass or nine patch on the back the piece is 52 x 16. Still trying to decide on the quilting. Need to be simple but don't really want to intersect the squares. Some of them aren't really square.:o

lindaj, your OBW is lovely. Don't know that I have the patience for one of those. JeanneS, I really like your Irish Chain.
Have 1 of those on my long list but never thought of doing florals. Thanks for the idea.

I posted my block pictures from Friday under Thread: Sylvia Bridal Sampler BOW #967. It is a UFO turned WIP, because I seem to keep picking up the list when I walk in sewing room.
Posted under Thread: Quilt for my Neighbor #1 is quilt I sewed label and gifted on Friday, too.

Here is a picture of Saturday's work. The squared up appliqué and pieced setting blocks.

Needle turn appliquéd these Santas about 5 years ago. Opened box, was surprised to see I had embellished some already with Fishing gear. One Santa is not embellished, so he is waiting in wings. My sister and her husband fish and collect Fishing Santas. The 1st 6, pattern by Sue Garman, are in another quilt my DS already has. This is for my DBIL. Will see them in Jan.

That's pretty giquilt! I've never done an applique quilt....maybe - some day!!!

Here's what i'm working on - It's a Judi Martin variation of a log cabin quilt. I had some fabric left over from a previous project that didn't get used. I still had to go buy some fabric, but pretty pleased.

This is half of a block. I'm off the next 2 weeks and i want to get this done - we'll see. My house is trashed, so i have to clean one room per day before i sew. It's going to be a throw size for the living room.

No quilting for me. We went to IL yesterday and today we are putting up the Christmas tree

QuiltingVagabond 12-20-2015 09:35 AM

I got derailed yesterday morning when I discovered that the tote containing my son's family Christmas stockings and my other holiday linens had been standing in water from a sump failure back in June. My heart sunk...

Needless to say, everything was ruined, either by mildew or colors running from non-washables like felts.

Many tears later, I have pulled by big girl panties up and resolved that I will be able to make their 3 stockings again, needlepoint and counted cross-stitch and the rest of the stuff was exactly that- just stuff.

Now back to sewing, my happy(er) place!

Oh Kathy, so sorry for the loss of the Christmas items!! I can imagine your dismay at discovering the mess!! But as you say they are "things" and can be replaced with new items to cherish in the years to come.
