After taking a break to do laundry and pick up limbs outside I got some more sewing done. 8 of the wedding ring blocks are done. 8 log cabin blocks finished.

WMUTeach—I had to laugh at running out of white thread 😁
I did get two more quilts quilted but discovered I was out of the multi stripe fabric I wanted to use for binding. I have another quilt ready to quilt tomorrow and the last one is ready to be sandwiched. I hand stitched another side of the binding on my special project tonight. I am thrilled with what I accomplished this weekend and hope you are all happy with what you did as well. See you all back here next month! |

Heather,
Thanks for hosting the VQW! CJsews Nice DWR I've never done one, don't like sewing curves. (left over from too many inset sleeves) I did finish the border on the table topper, I was successful with the mitered borders I was happy with how it came out even though some things don't match well, the top makes me smile when I look at it. I did learn a lesson while I was working this weekend, I have too many different style of machines. I usually sew the church quilts on my cheap ziz zag the needle threads from the front, I have a featherweight and it threads from the right but my normal machine threads from the left. I broke a needle on Sunday and it took me 45 minutes to realize I didn't screw up the machine, I just put the needle in wrong! I still need to finish up the church quilts so will do that today since it's a snow day. Thanks again for the sewing. |
Sounds like you did get a lot done Heather, good work! I was able to sew all the striped triangles well enough to satisify myself. Tonight is our weekly guild sew and I will give those blocks a good press and square them. See you all next time!

CJsews, wonderful looking DWR. It is on my bucket list to do someday… Looks like a productive weekend for many. Looking forward to next month VQW. Thank you Heather. |

Well since this thread is still going, I will add the photo of my finished baby quilt from the weekend. A friend who has had to give up quilting for medical reasons, gave me 5 bags of started quilts and pieces of fabrics from crumbs to yardage for backing. This was my first dive into one bag. I made two baby quilts from the charms squares and still have leftovers. She sure had a lot of these little 1930's reproduction charms. Practiced some wavy stitching.

Lovely finish WMUTeach…I really like the retro fabrics in your baby quilt. I’m glad you were able to use some of the fabric your friend gifted you.
